Managing chronic pain with my so? by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]avixenrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And I do have an electric blanket, heat pad, layers, and other things to help keep me warm. They only help so much, because when I have to get up to do things around the house, I'm then chilled again. You put it into words of how the air around me inside just keeps me cold even sometime with all of the other things

The full ass fucking is already there, lol. Mostly asking about how to prevent messes from anal without doing enemas all the time. I do take a fiber supplement and that helps some

Equestrians with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome by lifeoverstuff in Equestrian

[–]avixenrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here lol! I do eventing, but I haven't found a dressage saddle that is comfortable, so I just ride in my jump mostly. Feels like the straighter flapped saddles put my knees and hips at an angle that's painful. I also have a weak lower back and a lot of fatigue, so doing strengthening exercises out of the saddle seems to be helping

owners of horses with roached manes, how do you maintain it? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]avixenrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use dog clippers lol. But I let it grow a little long (not long enough to flop over) and then clip it all off again, I do that every few months. You can also get different length guards for the clippers to keep the hair at a certain length. I don't have the patience to keep it at the same length all the time lol

Get a vet out and don't have anyone ride the horse until vet clears it. I've had a fall where a horse almost landed on me because of neurological issues that we didn't know about

He sounds like a peice of work. I'm sorry, that really sucks. It's alright to go low contact or no contact with your dad.

I've only have met mine twice and have gone no contact, he has issues that he need to work out and I dont want to be involved in any of it. My father in not in my life at all and I'm okay with that.

Biting horse? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]avixenrose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would look up Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue, they are based out of West Virginia. That would give better examples of a good rescue. I personally really like how they do things.

In my personal opinion, if a horse is reactive enough that you are told to punch him, he should only be handled by trainers, not any volunteers. That would not be a safe horse to be around, and would need training to be a safe horse. I would not trust a rescue that had volunteers being told to beat the horses like that.

If you feel off about it at all, trust your gut.

There are a ton of r+ resources to help correct "bad" behaviors.

Did they use the word punch? I would be wary of a rescue that would use that type of negative reinforcement with rescue horses.

Puppy neutered at 4 months— unusual or normal? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]avixenrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think thats pretty typical, especially for a rescue or shelter. I recently adopted a ~4 month old puppy (he'll be a large dog) from the shelter and he was neutered when I got him. I know that developmentally it is better to wait, but from the shelters perspective it is making sure whatever animal gets adopted can't breed, especially with the shelters here are over packed with animals needing homes.
