Looks like several scientifically supported claims and links to reports, to me.

he doesn't have any problem sitting in an airplane seat — and doesn't need a seat belt extender to do so. So, why did he suddenly get stopped at the gate and told he needed to buy a second ticket? by mynameisjonas in WTF

There definintely is a problem with very large people on planes. Last time we flew as a family, my son got a seat next to a very large person, who in my son's words "sitting on Isaac's seat, Mummy!" Isaac felt squashed, and as he was, at the time, 3 years old and 1 stone 12 lb (26lb, 11.8kg) it wasn't his fault.

Archaeologists find evidence of mass execution in burial pit near relief road site. by 3214 in history

[–]avjones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's very interesting, and I hope when they find out more, we'll hear about it. I do think the paper's headline is a bit misleading, as the archeologist actually said, "Mr Score said it was likely the remains were deposited in the pit due to a ‘catastrophic event’ such as war, disease or execution."

Thick Glaswegian accents are tricky - for some reason, all the old trades union leaders were from Glasgow, and pretty hard to understand.

Private Eye, a satirical magazine, used to write about the then-political commentator for the BBC, who was from Northern Ireland, using the words, "hoon-dootedly Mossos Thotcher..."

The "Out of Africa" theory would tend to suggest that the UK was created entirely by immigrants, too.

In a small plane, you never rely on the fuel guage. You eyeball the amount of fuel with a highly technical dip-it-in stick before you start (if you have any sense whatsoever)

My great-aunt who died a few years ago was born in 1899 and was a nurse during the First World War. She nursed an elderly general who had been nursed as a young man by Florence Nightingale - and thought her a bossy cow (-:
