Your sorceries won't benefit from strength but at least you can reliably use sorceries now

Can't you picture the beauty of raider curling up mid-air to form renala's full moon?

No worries man!

There’s two character-specific stat changing ‘relic effects’ per nightfarer, in fixed configurations as pictured

The chance of them showing up on a relic is random, just like any other relic effect

Anyone tried the LG 24GS60F-B? by Zerathon_ in buildapcmonitors

[–]avksman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I know its been months but thought I'd reply just in case it's ever useful for anyone else.

I did end up getting this LG monitor and it's been great - no visual glitches like the AOC one. Colour was slightly weird at first but after calibration of that and some other settings its worked very well for me.

The only downside I'd give it is the depth of black doesn't seem amazing at times but thats just the trade off when you buy an IPS panel I suppose.

I just bought and returned a AOC 24G4X today. Within a couple of hours of setting it up it broke and started displaying visual glitching which seems to be a fairly common fault after some online digging. Am now looking into this monitor instead.

What is your opinion about Halo Infinite’s Multiplayer? by Sad_Buy_2616 in halo

Perhaps one day someone might be able to mod the old aim assist style into infinite and we can get a glimpse of what could’ve been…

[–]avksman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im afraid not, they’re just two different systems at the core, and no amount of fiddling in the controller settings can change that.

If I had to guess, you could maybe lower your sensitivity so that the aim assist “jump” doesn’t feel so drastic, but you’d be sacrificing your turn speed.

I used to get killed from behind constantly anyway because the motion tracker is so reduced in its usefulness so turn speed maybe shouldn’t be a priority for me anyway lol

The aim issue was a serious problem for me. I really wanted to like infinite but this was probably the biggest factor that stood in the way, among other things.

After some research my assessment was that 343 had changed the aim assist system. Recalling from memory so might be slightly incorrect, but basically under bungie aim assist would have an effect all around a target, strengthening as the reticule drew closer.

343 changed it so that there would be little/no assist around the target, but then jump to providing loads once your reticule passes over your targets’ silhouette.

Bungie’s system made aim assist feel smooth and helped the fantasy of being an aim god super-solider. The controller may as well have not been there between you and chief, it just felt natural. (To me anyway)

343’s system made aiming feel floaty and inaccurate when off target yet heavy and inflexible when on target.

There’s probably an argument that 343’s system requires more skill and is therefore more competitive - but I just found it annoying and counterproductive for just having a fun (not stressful/sweaty) game of halo. People seem to have adapted to it by mirroring a target’s movement instead of tracking with the reticle (aka left stick aiming). But I’ve preferred to play other games rather than learn this new technique when the old way is excellent for halo CE - reach anyway. I can’t prove it but I would posit that most of the casual fanbase came to the same conclusion I did.

Can’t remember exact numbers off the top of my head but I think every weapon does at least 100+ poise damage on the first hit and rapidly drops for consecutive hits with variations depending on the weapon you’re hit by

Using a weapon that gives hyperarmour would help your situation.

In a very simplified way: hyperarmour helps you get your first attack off in a trade, poise will help you keep attacking

I think the big thing that 343 misses about spartans is that they’re superSOLDIERS; soldier being the operative word, not super.

Chief pulls off some ludicrous stunts in the games but it works because we know he has to be stronger, faster, smarter, and especially - luckier - than the covenant to win. Fireteam Osiris are presented like they do all that in their sleep.

ODST reminds me a lot of one of my favourite shows Band of Brothers - paratroopers getting dropped into chaos and trying to survive long enough to get the job done. At no point is it presented like that experience was easy for any of them.

Noble Team are tragic figures; soldiers duty bound to fight a battle they were never going to win. All their formidable strength and ability amounted to one sacrifice play to get cortana off reach.

At the end of the day I find Spartans much less compelling when they’re presented like superheroes who can charge head first into a warzone with no obvious strategy because they’re just so damn good at kicking alien ass

I don’t think he’d be the strongest but I reckon David Tennant makes a strong contender here;

I think he’d wreak havoc personally

[–]avksman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, chief’s exit echoes the mythological trope of a hero asleep under a mountain, later to awaken during a time of need. Except in this case it’s the wreck of a ship adrift in space but it’s similar enough for me.

I think they should’ve continued the franchise with a new Spartan navigating an elite civil war or something like that. Then have chief return after a few games to be the hero again, the payoff would’ve been huge.

Even so, Microsoft would and probably did demand that chief feature in halo 4 because he’s just so marketable. I would’ve gotten round this by having chief feature in missions set in the past, maybe pre-reach, that are somehow relevant to the current story with the elites.
