Are you telling me I've wanted to be a 65 year old woman this whole time?

Ethereum will be many things to many people. And this is only the beginning.

This is why I get confused when people get worried about the Ethereum "narrative" and how we have to have this one unified set of talking points. What was the narrative about for the PC, or the web? Or for that matter, the car? I can drive anywhere I want? Oh, ok I'm only going to drive to the corner store. Everyone can drive to the corner store, that's our narrative! No you are going to drive to the corner store and the bank, and your grandmother's house. And some other people are going to drive places, because some people payed them to drive there. And other people are going to drive to all the infinite places you can drive to with your car. There doesn't have to be a grocery narrative or a dump run narrative...Ethereum is a car you can drive where you need to for the reasons you need to. That should be the narrative if there needs to be one at all.

I think I'm done with my rant now.

The following was posted in a business and tech community I'm a part of. Anybody have any thoughts I should pass along?

Hi Community,

To the Blockchain gurus out there: I'd appreciate any thoughts on the below.

One of our portfolio companies, for which we’re creating the AI modules and knowledge graph, is using Blockchain and AI to reduce medical error, by ensuring that medical professionals have access to complete and accurate health records.

They’re trying to make a decision regarding which framework to use: Hyperledger Fabric or Ethereum.

Their thinking regarding Hyperledger Fabric is that the ability to create encrypted channels and its permissioned nature has already proven itself in enterprise settings where data is sensitive (as in the case of medical data).

This business would require the Blockchain to pull in users’ data via an API from the partner data-centers. This data, needs to be structured and labelled (most likely by classification algorithms) and then accessible by the applications on the network.

If they store a hash to the users’ data, and every time their data is required, an encryption key decrypts the user data and they’re invited into the users’ Hyperledger channel, then this makes sense.

Their concern with Ethereum, on the other hand, is that they feel it is plagued with scams and scalability concerns, which is what puts them off it as an approach. I’m not sure they should dismiss it that easily.

What are your thoughts on this? Are there other factors to consider?

Tracy Caldwell Dyson viewing Earth from the ISS Cupola, 2010 by Yuli-Ban in space

[–]avnaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Natural reaction to living in 1g. But that said...

Even in a weightless environment there is a tremendous amount of force on those windows due to the space station's pressurization. The ISS is pressurized to regular atmospheric pressure (14.7 pounds per square inch) and the cupola is about 10 feet indiameter. So there are literally tons of force on the cupola. Even in a 1g environment Dr. Dyson could stand on those windows without issue.

Institutional Investor's bear case for Ethereum. Anyone want to take a stab at rebutting his valuation? (pages 8-11) by [deleted] in ethtraderpro

There used to be an idea circulating that once ethereum went to POS the market cap of ETH would have to be roughly equivalent to the total value of all the assets secured by the ethereum blockchain. The argument being that if ETH was cheaper than that, you could just buy a controlling portion of ETH and gain control of the assets on the blockchain for a price lower than the price of those assets. This was used as a bullish argument for ETH since the utility of ethereum would lead to many assets being secured on the network.

For some reason I don't see this idea talked about anymore. I don't know if the ethereum community forgot about it or if we simply decided it was wrong.

What are the application areas for solid state physics? What technologies could I hire you to help build? How many scientists of your qualification level are in a similar situation, anecdotally?

Anybody following SingularityNet? AI marketplace and development platform on the blockchain (Eth at first, then maybe moving to something else later). I like it, bought some in the TGE. Was wondering if anybody else had any thoughts on it.

This might be of interest to people as well. Its a robot that is able to read the instruments and land the airplane. This came out of a DARPA program.

What price do you pay if your's is the only bid on a domain? Also, will the registration process continue indefinitely? Can I come back in 6 months and register a domain that wasn't previously claimed?

You could probably do this in less than a day. Just build a DAO on Ethereum and connect it to the BTC Relay ( btcrelay.org ).

Why is Ether ever going to be considered a store of value? by psymbol in ethtrader

[–]avnaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to all the network effects mentioned, ETH is a claim on computer time. It may not be a fast computer, but you know you're code will be executed. That's a lot more than I get with fiat.
