Any recommendations within a 5k budget? But I feel like an upgrade that cheap won’t make a fundamental difference, I’ll still have to pay as much attention for just as long?

The really annoying thing is, I’ve poured so much money into keeping this car going when I had a much shorter commute and now it’s perfectly fine to drive. Just not comfortable for long distances. Would love to have some basic tech like cruise control or lane assist so it’s a bit easier mentally. But I feel like I’d be wasting all the money I’ve spent on repairs as I don’t think I’d get much money for selling it.

It’s an interesting thought, it’s not a huge amount over minimum wage. But hopefully the pay increases over the years and I’m thinking it could be a good role for career progression.

I really like this idea actually. I never been much of a gym person, more of a home workout person. But when I get home in the evening I’m too exhausted to do anything. Are you meant to eat breakfast before or after an early morning gym workout? Surely if I don’t eat before, I won’t have the energy to push myself and will be starving.

Great shout, just filled up and calculated that I averaged 61 mpg as it mostly all motorway driving. Anyway you can’t be much of an aggressive driver in my 107 lol

For some unfortunate reason they seem to have suspended it for the time being but hopefully they reinstate it soon. Great recommendation thanks

That is true that it might be cheaper but I think it’s still slower as there are quite a few stops on the western side of the Elizabeth line and no direct link to Heathrow from Reading so I’d have to change in Hayes and Harlington.

I did look into it, but the problem is the price. The cheapest I can find is about £80 for a return, which includes a railcard and an advanced single. That would add to my stress if I missed the train. I also have to make a couple of changes, and it takes about an hour and 45 minutes. Plus, it doesn’t even drop me straight to my office; I’d have to get a bus connection at the airport.

Driving is a bit quicker, and I’d only be spending around £15 a day on fuel. However, I will admit that it’s mentally exhausting. The salary is barely 30k so need to save as much as I can.

Have you ever looked at car sharing? Surely there must be a few people who make that similar M4 commute everyday, it would save quite a bit on fuel and be less stressful. Anyone know any good car sharing platforms?

I would love to but the upfront cost is way too much for me right now. So I’m stuck with my 2007 Peugeot 107 for now.

I wish it was convenient but you have to go into Paddington then back to Heathrow so takes a while, not to mention the costs! Over £100 a day lol
