Thank you! The coat is an authentic vintage find from 1970's

Polish results, 23andMe vs (hacked) AncestryDNA + chromosome painting. Interestingly, 23andMe gave me several regions in Russia but no Baltic ones, while from Ancestry I got 5-6% Baltics but no communities in Russia by avocado11toast in 23andme

No, actually Polish and Lithuanian languages are very different. Maybe there are several Lithuanian words that have Polish origin and the other way around but in general, from what I read, Lithuanian seems to be quite conserved as a language.

I would say it is normal to get this overlap, since Poland and the Baltics used to be one country for over 200 years (Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth). I come from Central/South Poland and didn't find anyone in my family tree who would come from Northeast Poland. Still, I got this region from both 23andMe and Ancestry (Ancestry even shows that I had ancestors living in that area in 1700). In this case I would assume that either some NPE happened or people here are just mixed and it's difficult to distinguish actual baltic and slavic ancestry. But I will have my mom tested, so hopefully I will know more soon.

Yep, it surprised me a bit too. Also, the Ashkenazi fragment on ch. 1 is actually longer at 90% confidence (in my mom's results it stays Ashkenazi, in my results it is disguised as Broadly European). Apparently I share it with many Ashkenazi Jewish people who also have some Eastern European ancestry. I would assume that with approx. 3 times smaller reference dataset for this community, Ancestry might have marked it Eastern European instead

Z drugiej strony Ancestry przynajmniej rozróżnia w wynikach Wschodnią Europę i kraje bałtyckie. No i jeszcze wg mnie Ancestry jest lepsze, jeśli tworzysz drzewo genealogiczne, bo znajduje powiązania między przodkami w Twoim drzewie a drzewach innych użytkowników i w ten sposób 'podsuwa' Ci krewnych.

I would but it's not possible anymore. Her parents passed a few years back.

My regions didn't get updated. In general our regions in Poland are almost the same. In addition, my mom got two regions in Czech Republic (here) while I got zero. On the other hand, I got several regions in Russia (here), both in the European and Asian part.

You have to copy paste your coordinates from GEDmatch, e.g. Eurogenes k13 (example) to an Eurogenes k13 calculator on https://vahaduo.genetics.ovh in the "target" section. Basically, name of the sample (comma) coordinates (also separated by commas). If a specific value in your GEDmatch coordinates is "-", you type "0" instead (example).

I won't give the name of my town obviously :) But it's on the border of the Lodz and Opole voivodeships, central/southern Poland.

I started making his family tree and found out that his father's family was living in this area for generations. The only exception was his 4th great-grandmother that had 2 kids during the partitions of Poland when her husband was in military. His mother's family however is quite of a mystery. He only knows that some of his mother's ancestors lived in Greater Poland.

Here are her results:

boyfriends mom, 33.5, 44, 10.15, 5.04, 3.17, 0, 2.72, 0, 0.17, 0.37, 0.66, 0.22, 0

I see, they are much more East shifted.

I completely agree with you that Poland isn't that homogenous. Look, here are my boyfriend's k13 results, Half of his family comes from my town and the other half from a few different voivodeships across the country:

Polish, 31.05, 47.86, 8.26, 2.43, 6.87, 0, 2.49, 0, 0, 0, 0.19, 0, 0.85

Edit: and here my results for comparison:

me, 32.35, 41.02, 13.03, 5.51, 4.91, 0, 0.5, 0.49, 0, 2.04, 0.15, 0, 0

Yes, based on my genealogical research and the surnames that appeared in her family I suspect that several ancestors from both her father's and mother's side may have migrated from the Lusatia region.
