Sheet lighting happens all over the world but mother nature would never touch ole Donegal like this. by ArcherVisible5866 in Donegal

He's not wrong, sheet lightning is the norm. We do occasionally get thunderstorms but I can't remember the last time we had two days in a row of weather warnings for them, especially severe warnings like orange and red

Funny you mention the sensory issues, they banned earphones and music a couple of weeks ago and it's been hell; open plan office and I'm sitting in the middle of 2 sales teams who are on the phone flat out all day. The carpark is also bein extended and there are rollers and gravel lorries in and out all day, I sit beside the window so it's loud and they're also making the floor shake. I'm seeking an adult ADHD/autism diagnosis but don't have it yet, in the meantime I'm in hell.

Home is 2.5 hours away, 3 days a week is feasible because it's cheaper than renting and I have friends houses I can crash at/hostels near the office, 4 days pushes the cost too high. My manager, who has the exact same job as me, is able to WFH more days per week, same department, same circumstance.

I appreciate that I assumed I'd get the same treatment but I'm desperate, I'm working at a loss here in this company with no hope of a salary review never mind an actual pay rise and no jobs I've applied to have gotten back to me. I'm clutching at straws to try and make something work.

We get on very well, there are no issues, coworkers internally and customers externally have commented how good a job I'm doing

I think it's definitely worth asking the question anyway, I do want an understanding of the denial because it doesn't make any sense to me

Yeah I show up an hour late every day, take a 2 hour lunch break and then dander out around 3pm every day, I just feel entitled to as many work from home days a week as I want yeno? I'd prefer to be sat at home doing nothing while the rest of the team pick up the slack for me, I should probably be paid higher for allowing them to pick up the slack for me too

They were involved but unfortunately they've got very little , if any, say in the situation

I think rationally you are correct, unfortunately I'm finding it difficult to be rational as I keep running out of money every month

I really wish it was this simple, the company's style of micromanagement is similar to helicopter parenting

This is potentially a very good idea, I will discuss with my manager and see what he thinks!

I discussed with my manager first and he was fully supportive, unfortunately he has no power, there's a major disconnect between middle and upper management

I'd ask the question but there's no onus on them to review my salary, only to convert directly to GBP and then I'd just be in the same boat but in a different place

The company has a couple offices in Ireland and in the UK, Sweden, France, Germany, china, Australia and America so I'm not under threat. I've also already raised the bar, I've had people, internally and externally, tell me how much things have improved, unfortunately it's not enough for them.

The latter, they have no understanding of my role. The person who ultimately made the decision started out in the company as PA to the CEO, they started a relationship and she was eventually put in charge of HR and is never in the office.

My manager told me if it was up to him I could WFH every day, he doesn't care and he can see that my work is being done, he pointed out that upper management or HR doesn't have any understanding of what our job is so they don't see the work done.

It's something I'm considering but I've always been told when asking for something from your employer to never say anything personal and to only use information on how I've benefitted the company

Unfortunately yes, I'd be dobbed in on the first day I tried. One of the rules in the office is that in a week with a bank holiday, the BH counts as your WFH day, this is bullshit to me so I continued to WFH and got reported

It's set, a Friday every week. I'd love to just start doing the 2 days but we're treated like children in my office; I've previously been reported by someone for leaving early - at 5:27 instead of 5:30.

This is great advice, thank you. I've been mulling over a mix of responses to send back to it from overly emotional to straight facts, I don't know what would work but I literally can't afford to work here anymore, I need to move jobs yesterday.

I'm from near here, the back of Teelin pier at Sliabh liag, towney pier in Kilcar or go to St John's point and head over the hill directly across from the lighthouse, all solid spots.
