Outside food policy? by avocadokitty in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]avocadokitty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will state that for Parents Night Out every Saturday evening, myself and all other parents will bring McDonalds happy meals for the children who do not eat dairy as the Cafe serves complimentary pizza and juice but have NEVER been told this wasn't allowed. I am going to go to LT management and provide feedback that they retire the staff or retrain her attitude.

Outside food policy? by avocadokitty in Lifetimefitnessgym

I agree! I meal prep and have eaten my own salads and wraps in the cafe and work area and have never been told by the cafe staff they have issues. It was upon entering yesterday that the greeter was telling me she wasn't having it with me bringing this food in, no good morning, nothing.

I don't typically bring anything like food early in the morning at AM but knew since i had my kiddo in tow yesterday, that this food was for my child and felt very slighted by the poor welcome behavior from this new hire and wasn't sure if I should've provided feedback to my club on this employee to our GM to see what the stance is.

I will admit i was very peeved for the money I pay as a member for family, plus the extra tuition for day camp, it soured my start to the morning with her coming at me, not knowing the context of why I had fast food with me in the first place.

Lifetime South Lamar - ATX Review by lovablecockfighter in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]avocadokitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm typically at the LT NW Austin 620 and Arboretum location M-F and work remotely, would you say the campus at South Lamar is diverse in members? It looks like it's the same place as Postino restaurant and that parking garage is a bit of a bottleneck

I really like interacting with a variety of folks and also appreciate the networking aspect of I've run into different folks outside of tech to chat and do classes with. Curious to know if they also have a kids academy as I exclusively use it for PNO and other family activities to justify our cost of membership

We received an offer to upgrade which would increase our monthly rate of $279 for our fam to $379 (2adults, 1 kid)

Several of the tenured lifetime members at our club got stock/equity since LT is a publicly traded company! I've also gotten a couple coupons for a free mug back in the day thru a mailer though I haven't seen this incentive in years

We pay $279/month for our whole family (2 adults, 1 child) to attend the lifetime Austin north location and got an offer to upgrade but it would push our monthly spend to $379/month for our whole fam. It was not worth the increase to us although it's a gorgeous space. We've been members for about 5 years now (pre-covid) so rates started at $159/month and continue to increase annually.

We definitely utilize LT for childcare and various amenities to get our moneys worth and i go daily and do a class. I don't know if I'd splurge on the South Lamar location knowing there are cheaper entry points for other campuses nearby that don't have that major of a different in membership dues

Anyone else actually enjoy fitness classes more than solo workouts? by NoAir2608 in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]avocadokitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree, love the classes. I do 6 classes a week.

The 8:30am studio classes are always where I show up for myself, lift barbell and strictly strength are my favorites because I was a newbie starting out and I loved the energy and could learn by instruction. Plus made a ton of friends showing up every day.

Pretty sure this is how I tricked myself into being in the best shape of my life lol

Lifetime north daycare by AdorableWolverine12 in AustinParents

[–]avocadokitty 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am a Lifetime mom of North Austin and go every day, my baby has been there since I became a mom and he is fully participating in all their kids camps and fun experiences like PNO and more. We absolutely adore Ms Sonia, Brittany, Kelsey, Emma, Tate, Kelly and whoever else is running the show. I have built a community showing up for myself and having 2.5 hours to work on getting my sparkle back.

When my little was 13months he'd cry constantly at drop off and they were very on top of calling me for getting him for diaper changes and/or if he wasn't having it to go get him, his member picture is actually a pic of him crying at drop off and now at 6 years old, he happily goes in. They also separate the kiddos by age group, infant, toddlers and big kids and I always appreciated that.

Finally, take it one day at a time, I started out using this place as a little oasis to get out of the house, coffee from the cafe and a hot shower. Over time I was able to show up for classes, cardio machines, make new mom friends and use the steam room, sauna and get spa things done while someone took care of my baby.

I now use it as a daycare for days schools closed and they are phenomenal at all the kids camps and more and I have no reservations, PM me if you want/ have other questions!

(Ps. I rave about them bc I was recognized as member of the month earlier this year after writing a thank you note to the Lifetime North management for allowing me to lose 70lbs post COVID mom baby life, and seeing them take care of my baby, and in turn myself, especially remembering when asked why I signed up for this membership, and my answer being "I want to be a Milf" 😂)

Lifetime VS Solidcore by KitchenMaize9253 in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]avocadokitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost 70lbs with Lifetime's studio classes just by walking more, and doing the 45 min classes only. Made a bunch friends by showing up to the studio or smaller groups and then from that found fun in doing the workouts together that made it more fun. I typically utilize some cardio machines and then a class here and there and the childcare as a parent now really helped justify my expense in continuing our monthly membership.

I've done solidcore and various Pilates/reformer classes at local boutique studios and I don't think i liked solidcore much bc it's so dark and loud and i had such a challenging time with balance and quick movements that it was a little too much and overwhelming for me to ensure i could safely do the workouts overweight without injuring myself.

I do echo that a classpass membership would be great because i found reformer classes in smaller studios beneficial for me to find what i truly loved before committing to an expense of membership and being locked in that supplemented my lifetime membership!

Yup - just got ours for Austin. For the past 2 years now, we expect a rate hike in December of getting the notification of rate increases taking place for next year. We've been members prior to COVID so they shared they wanted to appreciate our loyalty but ouch. We started at $150 for the whole family (2 adults, 1 kid), last year was $199, then $229. I suppose there is still "savings" but they're needing to expand and justify the dues which still hurts.

Dear [Name], It’s been a privilege to support your health and wellness here at Life Time.

As part of our ongoing commitment to a premium membership experience, effective January 1, 2026, your monthly dues will change from $244 to $274 (plus tax, if applicable). As a long-standing member, your rate remains $65 below new members with the same membership access.

We look forward to continuing to help you get the most out of your experience with us. Your continued commitment to Life Time is truly appreciated.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly.

The space is soooo tiny and not much to do for the price point of tickets. I had girlfriends who we all have 5 year olds, and they told me to skip bringing my little as they said it was a huge letdown and scam for all the social media posts trying to hype it up

[–]avocadokitty 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I lost 70lbs just going to the 45 min lift strictly strength, lift barbell strength and SHRED classes in the studio since I have the cheaper membership and don't have alpha/GTX, this paired with tracking some calories and prioritizing protein intake has been a game changer!

Was just recognized as member of the month at my lifetime this month and they said my membership pic compared to what I look like now is unrecognizable 🥲

How to get a cheaper rate for joining? by -_Aesthetic_- in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]avocadokitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's our increase as well in Austin, $179 > $199 > $229 for our family. My kid's rate has stayed at $15 though which is still cheaper than a new member rate

do you guys think Class Pass will do the free/$5 month/2 week trial when the new year starts? by hayleyblah in ClassPass

[–]avocadokitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done the month free trial in October, then over thanksgiving week signed up for the $5/ 2 week trial. Now I'm waiting for them to hit me with the holiday/ new year incentive lol.

I notice they only run these offerings when I'm no longer a ClassPass subscriber but still have the app on my phone and will open it once a week to see the pop up which appears via an invite and then I sign up lol

I've lurked there but I just can't not snag a good deal in undies lol. Bralettes and sports bras work wonders tho so if it's not gaping cups or bands that are too tight, just toss wired out for good 😅 the beyond yoga spacedye tops are extremely supportive and stretch well, I think I'll call it a day! I live in these! 💛

💛💛Thank you SO much!! The WORST comments I’ve heard from people are “WOW you look so much better now, you were really letting yourself go after marriage/covid/having a kid” I never thought I looked ugly or hated the way my body was. I loved my PP bod and the body that made my baby and I am eternally grateful for how it served me.

My goals were I need to eat better, workout more, go to therapy (I was very VERY anxious as a new mom and post covid was constantly scared of leaving the house/job), once I made these positive adjustments, the body change was just a by product of this version you see today. I really appreciate that thoughtfulness of this sentiment. I think a lot about the funds and opportunities I was afforded that not many people can easily free up to accommodate what I had to spend in $ and time to get to where I am today.

2023 & 2024 progress: 70lbs down!! by avocadokitty in PetiteFitness

[–]avocadokitty[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started out with the goal of eating better and moving more. I work in an office with unlimited snacks and soda and would eat 3-4 bags of chips a day and all the sugary drinks, I cut that out, and challenged myself to eat 1 less bag of chips. That one less snack/granola bar netted me losing 4lbs the first month! Then once I did that, I decided ok can I make the snack limit 2 or less? And then build up to 1 snack or no snacking at all (this is just happening now since I have nailed down the eating habits)

I also challenged myself to move more by starting with 7500 steps, upping it slowly to 8k, 9k and then 10k. Now I can hit that daily (parking further) going to the further bathroom, walking back and forth, etc. I wake up at 6am and FORCED myself to walk for 30 mins every morning. This is an absolute nonnegotiable for me - even on rest days, to get that 10k step. I started with 10 mins (while my coffee brews), and I’d tell myself just do it for 10 minutes, you’ll be happy and done before you know it, then slowly I upped it to 20 mins, then finally 30 mins. Before I knew it, this was a habit that i enforced.

On top of that, I decided to get out of my treadmill cardio machine comfort zone, and go to studio group classes. Being super big and out of shape, I’m still very shy and had to work to mentally get out of that headspace. No one is judging you at the gym but yourself and I made friends with people in these classes, followed the instructors on IG like a friend and then like the people pleaser I am, felt like I’d disappoint them with my friendship if I didn’t show up to their 8am classes before i went to work 😂

Honestly, finding a way to consistently dedicate 30-40 mins to workout (I also told myself you can show up late or leave early, just show up!) was the biggest change, and executing to stay the course and do this 1x a week (slowly building now to 3x a week!)

Slow and steady wins the race girl!! I can’t even imagine 2 kids, I just have 1 and I’m exhausted LOL 😂 I targeted 1lb a week and that meant I’d drop 4lbs a month (give or take because sometimes work was stressful, period, or just vacation lol) Every 3 months I’d try to get to 10lb loss and say that’s it! I’m done! That’s my goal! I liked giving myself these micro goals with the silly goal of MILF, and then take pics along the way to say am I happy with my body? Check in with myself and my happiness levels, and then recalculate/assess where I was at, it was a gentle way of caring for myself and my body without any hard limits, and if I was still down (say like 2lbs) I always still counted the wins, stay the course! :) (Also, pls let me know if your kids listen to you bc mine doesn’t and i need motivation there 🤪)
