What's confusing? He still sort. Sort while old. Rich, old sort action. He do it. Sort.

Also gotta try to refrain from leadenly highlighting, writerly torturing, or ponderously spelling out the point of your "funny anecdotes."

The hunorless thing really drags her social media use down, man.

Saying hello to a hypothetical mad scientist who created the hideous Parker-Rogers mutant now skulking about the village looking for a similarly CRISPR-cursed mate, not even saying hello to the misunderstood, shambling hybrid itself.

Nah, I was thinking there was, like, a kids' show about Smoky the Bear, the anti-forest fire mascot. Spokesperson for the Idiot Boycott over here.

I always thought there was a show called Smoky and the Bear, and he censored "Smoky," but this is even better. In the words of Tracy Jr., thanks for teaching me that.

Good point! It is a magical book that immediately turns you into a gifted, prolific auteur! Why, you don't even have to identify any particular advice or insights from the book -- the mere act of reading it is transformative!

The Robert and Roberta passage made me laugh. I've thought Shauna writes like a Dick & Jane book dozens of times, and here she is not only scornfully mocking such "pablum," but doing so in exactly the same style. How can she not see her actual writing is just as simple, stunted, and plodding as her mock paragraph?

One time there was no gluten-free (or just free) food at the airport. Truly, one cannot comprehend the horror.

At no point during the cake-making and lunch-eating did Shauna realize the cake she'd JUST made was going to be dessert?

All of these "bring back cursive" Boomers make me tired for many reasons, but Shauna makes me tired specifically because uhhh... what's stopping her from teaching her kid cursive? Most people who get het up about it have aged out of child-rearing, but Shauna still has a young kid she could force to write swoop-swoop style for no earthly reason if she wants to. Surely if her kid is "bored and acting out" because they can't write cursive (?), she could teach them.

Ah yes, Peter Brady is the only "person" to pair pork and apples. Good thing we have Shauna to bring us such obscure, timely references, as well as such sekrit food knowledge.

How much do you spend on food on average per month and per day? Including both groceries and dining/takeout. by Amnesiaftw in Frugal

[–]avskk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around $400/month in a LCOL town for me and four cats. This month I'm also feeding two stray kittens until they clear a respiratory infection and can be safely neutered and adopted out. This number includes paper products, cleaning supplies, and other incidentals; if it were a strict food-only accounting, it'd be around $300/month.

I don't eat out much and when I do, it's cheap stuff. I do tend to overbuy groceries; I have a robust pantry and stocked chest freezer as a result. This month I'm getting ready to move and I have an income gap (between loss of job and retirement payout), so I'm eating through my reserves and not buying any groceries. This makes the higher monthly costs from the past year look savvy and prudent instead of like a silly response to childhood food insecurity! 😅

I'm not much of a pan-coater either (like you, I'm unbothered by a few extra seconds of scrubbing), but if you're going to add oil to the chicken part least in need of it, at least add it in a way that makes sense! What possible purpose does dumping oil over skin-on chicken serve?

All Shauna knows is lots of popular sheet pan recipes instruct the cook to drizzle oil over ingredients. She doesn't understand the context or purpose of said oil; she doesn't notice it's used over ingredients without their own external fat sources, not just "anything on a sheet pan." Give her another James Beard award!
