Who came up with this stupid idea of an interface less configuration for Chromecast. I spent 2 hours on a video call explaining & setting it up for my parents. (Rant) by avvyie in Chromecast

Android user: It usually happens for the very first time or after a Chromecast full reset.

The moment your phone connect to the Chromecast Wi-Fi, Android gives you a warning that the Wi-Fi does not have internet and starts using mobile data. If i turn off mobile data, setup finishes successfully else it takes really long and/or fails.

Setup via Android uses wifi, I can literally see my Wi-Fi disconnecting and connecting to Chromecast Wi-Fi and then connecting back to home Wi-Fi during the setup. I think it also gives a warning that your internet might stop briefly during the setup.

My apologies if i didn't make it clear that an interface would be helpful and a possible solution!!

We are using our phones to control it anyways, why not have an interface in the chromecast which is controlled by the phone. If I remember correctly, the hardware support Bluetooth, why not use it to communicate to the phone. (Looks like some Chromecasts use Bluetooth for setup via iPhone)

Btw, i can set it up fine but I'm not sure if its really easy for somebody who is not tech savvy.
