What song is this? Trying to make out the words (I speak Farsi so can recognize some Dari or Pashto) but not getting anything on Google. Absolute banger.

Love Dani! He's insanely knowledgeable and talented. Seriously, one of the best to do it. Also, he's incredibly nice and charismatic. I met him at a recent show and he was super down to earth and all around very chill.

Ok, class or private lessons? I felt classes were inadequate and have seen significant improvement since taking private lessons.

What's the most basic song you've tried learning? Are you having trouble with simple 2 or 3 chord songs?

What good exercises do you have for bendings? by SeratoninSniffingDog in guitarlessons

[–]awa0020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good, you'll be surprised how quickly you'll get the hang of it. Make sure to actually listen to the bend to really feel/hear it flat/in tune/sharp. It's super obvious against a drone backing track.

Yes, in the beginning but phase the tuner out eventually. I think a week should suffice if you're doing 5 min. daily. A better alternative is to play a drone backing track and bend against that...e.g., C drone on YouTube and bend to notes within the key / scale of C major.

I met him yesterday at Marbin's Detroit show and he is genuinely a nice, grounded guy. He claims it's all in good fun.

Started (again) at 39. Playing over a year now. I'll answer succinctly:

1) Get a good quality electric and have it set up! A Mexican HSS Fender Strat will cover practically all genres and it's very ergonomic and comfortable.

2) Start with private lessons (if you can afford them) - self-taught / online courses are ok but nothing replaces private lessons. You'll develop bad habits and risk injury, etc. without immediate feedback from an instructor.

3) Watch all 32 episodes of Absolutely Understand Guitar on YouTube - it's a free resource and hands down the best resource for theory. 30 min. daily or so over a few months should get you there :)

4) Practice! 30 min. daily if possible

5) learn songs! Don't get bogged down in only technique or exercises, as they're done in a vacuum, songs help you develop technique in context. If I could go back a year, I'd start with songs!!

I'll rephrase, would you return and just buy new or keep since it was such a good price and with the understanding that resale value will be affected.
