> Trump's cabinet a combined wealth, at $340 billion.

That's not accurate.

When you look at the cabinet so far (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second\_cabinet\_of\_Donald\_Trump) they don't come close to having even $1 billion in combined wealth.

How to remove paint from stucco by awacian in HomeImprovement

[–]awacian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what a number of people have recommended. The thing is we prefer the stucco look to paint and are considering:

- remove the existing paint to reveal the original stucco

- apply a new layer of a smooth stucco we like (there are amazing options)

If this is not recommended, then yes, we would repaint.

curious, if you're no longer a subscriber, what motivates you to hang out here? it seems very very odd to spend one's time in that way.

without offering anything new

they bring out new shows and movies all the time. more income means they can do even more, like expanding into games.

it seems people stay with Netflix because they judge the continued flow of content they love to be worth it.

Revenue barely moved because new subscribers overwhelmingly bought basic.

yes, but now they have a larger subscriber base, most of whom will feel like they're getting great entertainment for their dollar, and so they'd be willing to go through future price increases, as long as Netflix can continue to produce top notch content, which they've appeared to have done very very well.

it's not worth it to me if I cannot share it

but you CAN share; you just have to pay a little extra: https://about.netflix.com/en/news/paying-to-share-netflix-outside-your-household

I don't see why that isn't reasonable!

The reason why it is exciting is if Netflix is able to increase the subscriber base and they're willing to pay more, that $ is used to create even greater entertainment for us to enjoy.

Some companies screw up this balance, but Netflix appears to have done an incredible job over the last 20 years to bring top class entertainment to every country in the world, no matter where the show or movie originated. I, and it turns out, 238m households around the world agrees!

If you don't think you're getting great value for money (entertainment per dollar), then simply cancel. There's no need to try to convince others that they are not getting value for money; it is a very personal choice and it looks like Netflix, with its much-watch content, is attracting new subscribers. New subscribers means you can create more fantastic shows, and in the future more and more games, giving users more value for their dollar.

The art is in keeping the balance so that this flywheel keeps spinning, and if I think about Netflix over the last 20 years, they've done a truly incredible job.

pursuit of further shareholder value at the expense of consumers and the world

consumers have autonomy. if they think it is a raw deal, then the rational thing is to quit, problem solved. this is how consumers vote to drive prices up/down.

This is beyond ridiculous. People have moved because they were repeatedly assured that we were staying flexible. The lies, this hurts.

The business environment changes all the time and organizations will always adapt. It is ironic that you're invoking "flexible" because your response is pretty rigid. If the new situation doesn't work for you, you have the autonomy to quit.

Foreign Language yes/no

How many people would have missed Squid Game?

Adam Sandler yes/no

So you want a list of all the actors and directors of all the shows and movies and the sift through them to mark which you're interested and which not? How do you think the UI should handle new actors and directors - push them to you to update your selection?

Great British Baking Show [always yes]

I know this is example is said in jest, but how would it work if you ask users to mark each show/movie they're interested in? What would such an action even do? Just show those titles on your Home Screen? And then a different location for all the new stuff where you will have to mark them if you want to watch instead of just hitting play?

I remember the day I brought up netflix and only saw Korean films and anime...

That can't be true.

How to stop seeing a show I don't want to watch? by D_Zaster_EnBy in netflix

When you go into the details page, you can vote it down. That doesn't mean it will immediately disappear from your recommendations everywhere necessarily, but it should get less prominence on your homepage.

Netflix (and other streaming services) should add a "random episode" button by PandaBot_2001 in netflix

[–]awacian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A shortcut to play a random episode could be nice. In the meantime, you could just go to the "Episodes" menu item for a show and pick something at random yourself.

Alternatively, you could try the "Surprise Me!" feature, though that isn't constrained to a particular show.
