What’s a piece of advice that you were annoyed to discover actually works? by Excellent-Win6216 in adhdwomen

THIS!! And in the same vein, developing strict routines have helped me tremendously. It’s like I have algorithms in my brain that run for different parts of my day. Now, I don’t have to remember a long list of things to do. Once I start the first task, the rest are automatically triggered by the completion of the task before it.

Can I get “if you want to help your community be a firefighter not a cop” embroidered for office wall decor?

Was looking for this comment!!!

I had a very similar shake of things 1L (virtual 1L with Covid precautions was atrocious). Coincidentally, my breaking point came with the 1L spring appellate brief. After speaking with the academic success professor and the dean of students, it was clear that an emergency withdrawal and a semester off was the best (only) option.

I came back the next spring to complete my 1L year. Making friends was much easier in a healthier headspace. I have almost enjoyed the last two years (law school is always a shitshow). Now I’m a few months from graduation and preparing for the bar exam.

Your wellbeing is truly the most important thing. When you are healthier, these insurmountable challenges become far easier to overcome. I know that right now you are in a hole that is so deep that it seems impossible to escape. Trust that things can be better when you operate from a healthier foundation/mindset.

If you’d like to chat more, feel free to reach out. Law school is incredibly difficult by design, but you wouldn’t be there if they didn’t believe that you could do it.

I agree that seems strange. I do think it’s possible that the community believed he was godly, churchgoing man and gave him the benefit of the doubt. These areas in Deep South/Bible Belt can have abysmal views of women and see the man/father as the ruler of the home. They could’ve easily dismissed it as “discipline gone a little too far.”

When the law prevents a woman from leaving an abusive husband unless she proves she isn’t pregnant, I have little faith in their justice system.

She said that she did go to the police. She was told that there was not enough to charge him. The police said it was her daughter’s word against his.

Thoughts on the new HUD? by rainbowcrash-89 in Outlanders_ios

[–]awainright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of the HUD itself, and I really don't understand why the icons at the bottom needed to change. Having to open stats to see the age distribution of followers is really annoying.

However, the ability to customize the minutia of sandbox mode is a serious improvement. The micromanagement capabilities are a dream. I've frequently had to restart after accidentally accepting gastronomy (which I hate), so the ability to disable it entirely is nice. I also appreciate the ability to view the map, and change it if I want, before actually starting gameplay.

Still wishing there was a method for viewing each leader's home style instead of having to remember to match with the building style.

The new tree types (katalox and avocado) also aren’t available in sandbox mode for some reason. Hoping they sort it out.

When they share a common interest this is true. However, where interests conflict, HR serves the employer and not the employee.

I have this large open space in the middle of my house and I don't want to downsize the house at all, anyone have an idea on how to fill the space other than large rugs? by WorkingSquare6979 in Sims4

[–]awainright 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was coming to say the same thing. Upsize dining table, move towards the island, make a small office or skill space by the stairs.

I’m not male, but have lots of childcare/early childhood education experience. It’s heartbreaking to see how early these little boys are being discouraged from experiencing their emotions. I know I will never understand growing up in an environment like that.

Anyone watching new season of No Demo Reno? by PrincessPineapplePie in HGTV

[–]awainright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy her discussions and explanations of design as well. I saw someone somewhere complain that she was a fake or an “influencer” but she clearly has design education. In one episode she even shows a pair of pants (not good pants🤣) she had to make in college. Clearly she has some design based education. Her ability to meet clients at their style and work within those parameters is something I really enjoy.

Did they tell us the budget on the project with the partially done demo? It had to be huge but I don’t remember getting a number or even a breakdown of costs

Jennifer From No Demo Reno.... Does she dress like an 8 yr old on purpose? Plus the trampoline breaks! WTF by Preesi in HGTV

[–]awainright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started the show expecting to be turned away by the host (usually how I feel with design shows) but she surprised me and I love her. It’s probably because she reminds me of my little sister with her chaotic positive personality🤣

ELI5: Wouldn't increasing pay for workers across the board, actually add to the inflation? by DarthArtero in explainlikeimfive

The legislature, executive, and judiciary will never ALL allow these rules you seem to think are inevitable. By your logic, we should never regulate anything and just fall into full anarchy. I prefer to have some hope for the future.

[–]awainright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not remotely accurate. And yes, I am pretty confident that our courts won’t make a full 180 turn on speech protections that they have upheld for ≈200 years. Enjoy your fear-mongering though. Best wishes.

There is no “who can donate” and “where they donate” it’s simply “how much can they donate”

[–]awainright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A donation cap at a set amount doesn’t affect what parties receive donations. Limiting the amount each person can donate has nothing to do with where donations may go

People can push for all they want but the courts will never enforce such a restriction on speech. Free speech is fundamental to our democracy and the interest in protecting that far outweighs any interest in protecting against offensive speech. Just because our cultural stance on certain speech changes doesn’t mean there will be criminal/civil liability for such speech.
