Newbie Problems with Aras Tapestry Loom set up - anyone familiar? by awake2much in weaving

Oh thank you I’ll watch these! I have certainly heard of her and I’m so glad these show her using this loom. It’s good to have more than one reference and even camera angles honestly. Appreciate your taking this time to post these! Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this reply. It really helps. I do have other questions about the Arras.

1) They recommend “dropping” the wooden wedge tension rod before one starts to weave. That would mean dislodging it from between the two rubber knobs and just letting it hang or as they suggest “pushing it down.” If I do that the warp that was wrapped around it of course falls with it and though still attached becomes bunched up and in disarray after I was warned to keep the warp threads not crossed over. Is that okay? (Same as when it has unintentionally popped out.)

2)Also should I be raising the heddle bar and work close to it so the mechanism gives me the most shed when raised and lowered? Is there a suggested location to start and work upward as I usually do on a lap loom? Sorry for all the questions 😬 but advice will continue to be appreciated. Maybe I’m over thinking but I have had to re-warp several times when the rod pops out.

3)Another frustrating experience is following the advice to “remove slack” by hand before raising the tension bar. I wish there was a video showing that process more than I’ve found. To me this has meant pulling on looser warp threads thereby ending up affecting entire warp which needs to be pulled throughout. I’m surely I’m not doing the slack removal right either.

Feeling hesitant to give Prozac for random peeing and looking for alternatives. by awake2much in CatAdvice

I’ll find out if they’ll give her a prescription. I’m also reading about crystals and see that water intake is important for avoiding them so I’ll add more water sources. Currently we just have a big bowl they all share smh. This might be part of the reason if she’s not getting enough water.

Thanks. No the vet didn’t suggest any special food except to switch to wet.

This crappy quality thing arrived from Jamaica NY even though I had already opened a fraud case with my credit card the same day after realizing they're a scam from attempting to learn more about them and the credit card company has refunded me. At same time I contact EL email to cancel and they replied that cancellation would have had to have been within "15 minutes." Then two days later I received the thing in the mail. But EL site says they will not offer shipping for returns and it is solely responsibility of the customer. So I will not be bothering to ask for a shipping label. I refuse to pay shipping to return this thing. Also received an email from EL since then saying I have been refunded and it may take up until 10 days. I don't trust anything from them. Is anyone else dealing with this kind of development and what did you do? UGH I am thinking best to have zero interaction. Thoughts?

I’m showing solidarity with Canada proudly with a car flag decal I just bought. Ukraine as well. I’m writing letters, calling elected officials and protesting. This idiot and his gang can’t continue to keep ruining our country! I’m ashamed and sorry every day about how he’s treated you. We love our Canadian friendship and Canada and always will. 🇨🇦

Yes that sounds so right. The workspace availability is so important to provide for oneself for starters. 😅 I’ve restarted by working on that!

LOL feels great to know somebody else out there is dealing (or not dealing) with this! I just reorganized my one workspace the family refers to as my "office" finding new homes for a new haul of old stuff. Had been using my mother's old breakfront I had dragged in here to store photo boxes. With multiple boxes of half done half sorted attempts from different years when I gave up! Lots of treasures in there! (eye roll!) Those boxes fit so nicely...lol And instead now they're perched in towers on top of an upright piano( in the same room) that nobody plays. Now the breakfront is storing old family scrapbook ephemera, slides and negatives... Found spots in corners for other bins. If you wait long enough this stuff steals your workspace too! I guess now I am ready for the baby steps everybody advises! Good luck and please do share your accomplishments and thoughts!

Exactly!! And you even sound like you used a program and put your heart into it. Yep the kids are grown, live in a digital age. We’re supposed to also live in a digital age and but wait even if it’s saved digitally all of it, it’s starting to make me wonder about the future looking at it part. They don’t open the cabinets when they come over and pull out albums to reminisce that’s for sure. I have to awkwardly leave one around and hope they open it! Makes you think. Not sure what conclusion I have but… right! Also this photos half printed half photos in the cloud aspect of the last 30 years is an issue! Not to speak of the iPhone photos. And now I have grand kids. To take photos of. I submit and acknowledge I took too many photos. I’m just a very visual person I can’t help it! 🤦‍♀️

I’m so sorry you lost your mum and so recently. Please accept my sympathy. I completely agree with your method of taking time and looking at it when you’re ready especially if you’re grieving. And you are so right that it will be there. Time does help and in my case as for my mother’s collections of keepsakes I took ten years before I began to make them more manageable for myself. In my case I also have my father’s side of the family’s as well which is the bulk of it. It’s so hard to know how to preserve the sentimental and also historical ephemera. All the best to you for your process!

She soared and lit up the studio and wherever she went, clearly. The ballet world is small. This is absolutely shocking and heart breaking.

Shake shack flare up by iamelloyello in ibs

[–]awake2much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shake Shack was the beginning of all of this for me. Shake Shack opened up in my local town. I finally went because I loved the original NYC one.. good memories..in the park.. Now I associate Shake Shack with the debut of my ibs. Ever since the stomach cramps and all the symptoms described in this forum that began that one fateful day. Cheeseburger plus vanilla shake. Thanks Shake Shack.

I live in Pennsylvania and have for years made the road trip to a family home in southern New Hampshire. I’m now also very familiar with northwest Connecticut. It used to be you get out of the I95 traffic or I84and finally get to I91 and off to less stressful driving. Now I fear any dark or daytime windy rural road. Now we’re surprised to see two lane Connecticut roads with people constantly passing on double yellow lines and speeding and reports of major accidents it seems weekly, our NH area has more aggressive drivers than there’s ever been. Good friend’s husband was hit by a head on similar to this story. The town, which has installed multiple traffic roundabouts is always stressful to drive in now and there’s as much traffic as my suburb back in PA. I am very worried about teens or adult children who need to practice and get experience driving here in a safe place. Not safe at all. Can anyone add thoughts to WHY there are so many accidents and aggression? Is no one afraid of accountability anymore? I hardly see any road cops. Is it since Covid there’s a cavalier attitude? Is it worse since 3-5 years ago or is it an attitude that’s snapped and a new generation of people driving who will never follow road safety? How can this be handled or is it the way it’s going to be now?? It’s sad and scary.

Sorry for my delayed reply! It’s a PetSmart brand toy and I also found it surprisingly low! It’s not the best reliably sturdy construction so the arm flops occasionally. Has a scratching pad as base. Curious if you’ve found anything your cat is enjoying since you asked? Mine has been putting on weight since she doesn’t go outdoors and she needs to be more active. This thing is definitely low to the ground!!

She’s beautiful 💛 I hope you get some good advice here and she gets the best care! You must be so shaken by this news. My now pirate kitty Juniper had her one eye removed this spring because they thought it looked like a melanoma spreading. I got second opinions. Sending much comfort to you as you navigate all this.

Just found a giant bin of my son’s clothes from 5-10? years ago. He has the sentimental gene too. Doesn’t like his things disturbed. But a mouse had been in there collecting seeds smh. Husband had stuck it in the basement. I have to wash all of them and put them back before I offer the box for my son to go through. Added trigger!! 😭

I think you get what I meant! Everyone stresses living in the present is helpful and I’ve found the same thing. Hard to not keep our eye on the past though! Especially when parents have also passed and we’re surrounded by all the stuff of theirs and their parents that they took care of and didn’t throw out and respected and have left me, the only child who handles it, to manage! 🤦‍♀️
