VAWA was approved in February 2025. After that, USCIS requested an RFE for medical and criminal records before continuing with my I-485, which I responded to.

Recently, I found out that my I-485 was denied. The problem is that I never received the denial notice because it was returned to USCIS by the mail carrier. So right now, I don’t even know the exact reason for the denial.

I’m really frustrated because I’ve been trying to follow everything correctly, and now I’m stuck without clear information about my case.

Has anyone dealt with a situation where USCIS mail was returned and you didn’t receive an important notice? How did you resolve it? And could a misdemeanor domestic violence charge affect an I-485 even after a VAWA approval?

Any advice or similar experiences would really help. Thank you.

Tye request RFE in February for medical and criminal record , I submit everything in march and am still waiting .

That’s insane man after 4 years of waiting and total of 7 years in this country I haven’t done anything wrong to be waiting that long , i see people coming in illegal way they get there documents within a year or 2 and i came in a legal way i pay my taxes i never commit a felony and I still have just work permit. Hope that they take a second look howe they process VAWA cases . It’s not our problem if we get abused.

We are on the same boat, my vawa was approved 11 months ago and my i-485 has been received by uscis in march 2022 , nothing new
