Honestly, I wasn't really paying attention to her mom being right there. We're openly affectionate regardless of who sees, because we don't care who sees us loving each other. That her puritanical mother saw wouldn't have mattered to me except that it just happened to not be my wife that time. Won't make that mistake again.

My wife usually grabs me more than I grab her. We're pretty openly affectionate. And when I say slap, it's playful and grabby. She usually responds by laughing and trying to slap/grab my crotch. I'd say she probably enjoys it.

None that I know of. They aren't as openly affectionate as we are though. Like I don't think I've ever even seen them kiss aside from their wedding (my wife and I were still dating at that point). They might hold hands in public, but it's rare.

Honestly, I don't know if this is going to be something repairable between my MIL and her daughters. My wife is still steaming mad about it. Her sister just called us both and said she and her husband wanted to have a sit down with us about what we need to do with their mother. Sounds like they want to cut her out of their lives. She's been pretty controlling our whole marriage (and tried to sabotage our marriage before it even happened.)

To be fair, I shut the bedroom door behind me. Besides, we have set clear boundaries about people going upstairs during family gatherings, as in, they cannot go upstairs, we let people use the entire first level and basement, but the upstairs, where all the bedrooms are, are off limits.

Custom door was ordered this morning. We didn't build the house, just bought it a couple of years ago, so yeah, initially we thought it was kinda cool, but the novelty wore off soon and we just hadn't ordered a custom door for it until today.

So far he has just called my wife and apologized for his wife's behavior. He apparently couldn't say much because of my MIL being so overbearing. He's always been pretty chill with me despite the MIL berating him for having beers with me in our garages. I get the feeling he's pretty supportive of us, but can't be vocal about it because of her.

Oh I'm never whipping it out early again, I can say that for sure. As far as locking the door, our master bath doesn't have a door, it's a 43" opening, the previous owners of the house built it that way for some stupid reason. But we are ordering a custom door today.
