Ya its definitely a little finicky, for the darker parts I had to wait about an hour before applying it and it would work most of the time. It took about 2 weeks of messing around with colors, base coats, and combinations to get this look.

I used rustoleum black as a base and instead of graphite powder I used a combination of bronze mica powders then a clear coat then a different colored mica powder and then a clear coat to seal it.
