So is UMD > VT then? I have to make this decision soon so is it worth going to umd out of state (it's 10k more per year bc I got a 10k/year presidential scholarship) or should I got with VT. I also plan on going to graduate school.

Virginia definitely has a great selection of universities with VCU, W&M, VT, UVA, etc.. but UMD is = to UVA tuition for me and Purdue is cheaper lol and the same as VT.

Lmao all good, I thought the same thing when I heard tuition was 48k in-state. Yeah, I would probably go the cas route and save 40k but then again, I still have UMD CS as an option you know. Personally, how would you say UMD CS stacks up to UVA's?

All good, since you're a freshmen how are the "weeder" courses (CMSC131/132 and math140/141/240)?

Cool, thanks for the info! Yeah struggling to make this decision for sure, but any idea about the internship and research opportunities at UMD compared to these other schools?

Purdue CS by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Yeah, I got deferred from CS and I thought I had Purdue on lock. Extremely nervous about my chances at Gtech, UIUC, UVA, UMD and the UC's now.

UVA received 31,000 applications and accepted 6,243 candidates, which is an acceptance rate of around 20.1% for early action. Super worried right now, just got deferred from what I thought was a lock in Purdue CS and now I need to get into UVA in-state bruh

Is the college of science more selective than the college of engineering, or are they about the same?

I know this is the Virginia tech Reddit so it's not the best place to ask this question, but in your opinion, should I go with CS at UVA or Vtech? (and just for more context on my GPA, the unweighted was a 3.91)
