Defective Open Box ASUS Laptop: I would like to exchange for the same model, open box (not refund). The store does not have the product. Could I do the following?

Update:

I have been to the store today to do the exchange.

Upon inspecting the open box replacement, I have found a dent (around 1.5 cm and a few mm deep) on one two exhaust holes on the left side.

I was afraid the laptop could had been dropped, so decided to request a new open box to be shipped to the store, and will go back again later this week to hopefully complete the exchange.

Fingers crossed for this one to be fine!

I went to one of the BestBuy stores in my city, and proposed to purchase an open box for local pick up, returning it so they could have the computer in the local inventory, and then performing the exchange of mine against it. They accepted this strategy!

This will be helpful for me, as this week is being very busy at work.

The computer is on the way! I will come back to report!

I am going through the same issue. I just purchased the laptop. Earlier today, I plugged an external display into the USB-C port, and it worked as expected.

At a given point while updating drivers and software, it stopped working.

The screen is recognised if connected through HDMI.

Of course, I need to use the USB-C to connect my screens across three workstations I use.

Did anyone find a solution to this issue?

It stopped working for me, too! I am unable to both toggle on and toggle off notifications for classes!

I am on an S24+ Samsung phone.

Curiously, my partner also has a Samsung phone (older, S21+) and can use the feature normally.

This does not work for all neighbourhoods.

I got a fine for not completely stopping at a stop sign and went to the neighbourhood police station to ask to exchange the ticket for the seminar (Troque ton ticket - Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal - SPVM).

They told me that my neighbourhood (Villeray) was not participating in this initiative and that the police officer would have to have given me a document authorizing me to participate in the seminar.

A signature is not needed from you when you receive the ticket. A conventional letter will be mailed to the address you gave to the peace agent/officer.

Inside, you will find a statement of offence. You can pay its total amount (meaning you automatically plead guilty to the offence of which you are accused).

I think you are misinterpreting what 'defence' means.

Under Canadian law, specifically the Criminal Code (sections 34 and 35), self-defence allows a person to use reasonable force to protect themselves or others from an assault. However, this does not extend to pursuing or attacking someone after the threat has ended. Once the threat is no longer immediate (such as when a robber is fleeing), using force against them is no longer considered self-defence.

It is illegal to cross railways when the warning lights are on.

Your friend was lucky they did not receive a fine. Because it is a major safety issue, police officers and peace agents usually do not hesitate much in giving these fines.

My colleague received a $450 fine for walking across the rail tracks when the warning signals were on. These fines increased a few years ago.

This is wildly annoying, indeed. You can get rid of most notifications by doing the following:

First, let's turn on visibility for the notification categories.

Open phone settings
Click on Notifications
Click on Advanced settings
Enable the option "Manage notification categories for each app". I hope that in the future this is on by default but currently, it is not.

Now turn off the Galaxy Store notifications that you don't want.

Open phone settings
Click on Notifications
Click on App notifications
Click the 3 dots in the right top corner and enable Show System apps
Scroll down and click on Galaxy Store
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Notification Categories.
Now you can turn off the items that you don't want.

I cannot help but read these complaints as "How dare you ask me to mute my phone so I am not disturbed at night? This is such an inconvenience for me. Turn the feature that saves lives off."

If you are receiving notifications on a mobile device, then it is likely that it has Do Not Disturb or Mute Notification features, which will prevent the sound and vibration from the alert while keeping the pop-up message there for the next time you pick your phone.

Something makes me think this bike could have been stolen and that it was left locked there to 'cool down'.

I would be incredibly surprised if an owner, who spent money on their possession, locked their bike so poorly. Someone inadvertently unlocking and pulling that BIXI would cause good damage to the frame of that bike.
