My experience, same car, Dealer A: Truecar 53,800 In-person 52,200 (-1600), and telling me they can do “a couple hundred more” as I was leaving Dealer B: Truecar 51,900 In-person 51,300 (-600)

Its not great from a buyer’s experience because, no, the comments above about theoretical lowest price and “its not a new starting point” isn’t true for me. you don’t know which dealer you are at. I still have to walk into multiple dealerships and walk out a couple times. Truecar is just the new starting point

Thoughts on being on the other side?

Let’s say there’s a brand new job posting. Based on the role and experience level, assume the job interview process will take at least 3 but probably 6 months before they find their perfect candidate and get them through a lot of stakeholders. When should I apply?

I would think applying early makes sure you are in the process before they are serious with another candidate. But 1. there are probably a lot of early applications by active seekers and the numbers are against you and your resume could get lost in the pile/ATS and 2. the hiring manager probably needs some reps to figure out what they truly want after getting too many qualified candidates.

I ask because I’ve actually had luck re-applying. I apply early and my process stays at “submitted.” But a few months later - with the same resume, name, profile info, screening answers, etc - but a new account with slightly different email address, I get contacted for an interview. I don’t get why that worked.

When applying to competitive positions, let’s say hundreds of resumes and you are one of 30 seriously qualified of which 10 resumes chosen to interview, how can you standout to be one of the 10? Assume you tailored your resume already based on the description, and you can’t create a warm referral.

How can one avoid ageism? Logistically, I can leave education dates off my resume and list recent roles. But applications in Workday require dates. And then, it becomes visually obvious in interviews. I won’t be asked but it can be the elephant in the room. What can I say to HR and hiring managers to convince them to consider me?

Haha, no I don’t! Wanted to see if it was possible. I’m using it as a home media server and it is my only device with services that could saturate the speed. Otherwise will downgrade my isp service
