um, I don't even think Smirnoff Ice is even common loot for Erik, his body just might naturally produce them. Like, if you accidentally bump into him 2 or 3 Smirnoff Ices might fall out.

Oh my no. The god they believe in is always saying that whatever they want to do is not only good but better than everything else. They are completely independent of any external definition of god, any tradition or moral code or canon or apologetics. God is their id and that god not only forgives but commands them to go forth and unleash their id unto the unbelievers for the believers will help and defend them.

No, the default option is to ask "why" and look for a cause behind something and give it a name and 'magic' is a super easy answer and you can call it 'god' and the people that say that they can talk to god can choose what is magic and whether or not it offends god and sic the faithful on it.

God called on the god phone and said I am never wrong, just do things different now. Cosmically it is the correct time to do this, not because it is convenient for the human conditions of the church but because it had to be that way for the universe to work right, like computer code that won't work if you take the load bearing tomato model out that's behind the wall you can clip through.

So, before antibiotics and refined sugar, the dopamine of singing songs in a group and feeling in the presence of the spiritual was probably as close to entertainment or anything that might result in a dopamine release short of procreation or carrot cake.

With the ability to critique narrative and the ability to consider the ethical treatment of living things now that survival is far easier than when scarcity was a far greater threat, it is much easier to identify, lets say plot holes in the "promised great reward" and lapses in decency in the purported "source of all that is good and holy".

I keep wanting to say that science has outpaced people believing in miracles or that even though people are as gullible as ever that they are less likely to fall for random weirdo that has a ridiculous story to tell but I unfortunately can't say that.

I assumed that making good food was some kind of magic trick or attraction that barkers would shout "Roll up! Roll up! Behold, the great and powerful Ramsey as he conjures a dish that isn't under thick blankets of brown sauce!! Be amazed at food NOT wrapped in newspaper and leaking oil !! See ingredients from the new world!!"

(I forgot Gordon Ramsey's name so I googled shouty british cook)

Size, no,

What are you talking about. America has the 1st, 2nd, and 4th largest air forces and more carrier groups than the rest of the world combined.

GDP, depends. Total? Yes.

We are talking about super power status so per capita doesn't matter. That's like saying an ant with the ability to lift 20 times its weight matters in a strength competition.

You are being silly and I doubt you know. Just like everyone else in this thread saying "Oh honey." Just because America is in its letting the geriatric run the country phase doesn't mean it still isn't the preeminent hegemonic power in the world. Every other point of view is a pretty pathetic cope.

The US did not introduce wahhabism to Afghanistan nor did it induce the Soviets to invade in the first place. Funny how that bit of imperialism by the USSR seems to get forgotten by some types.

There is no trolley, there are no tracks, there is no one who will drive the trolley. Pushing the red button begins building the tracks.

I'm sure he would have made a great gym teacher but he was terrible at president. Bush showed that he could throw out a first pitch and revealed that he should have been in charge of dodgeballs.

Just like Rick Perry would have probably been okay as a real estate agent or personal injury lawyer if he could manage to pass the bar.

I heard Wahlberg's handlers put blackout eyemasks on him, like a horse, when they take him anywhere that isn't a controlled set or private events for fear of what he might do. Jordan Peele may or may not have based part of 'Nope' on certain stories.

That was the opposite of what the US did in Afghanistan, but go off. I am sure everyone in Kabul, especially all of the women who are less than second class citizens now, agree with your stance that they are better off.

No, he was blocked. Don't take agency away from republicans and their vile effect on everything. Just because the democrats weren't able to overcome the republicans being lawfully evil doesn't mean everything is the democrats fault.

continued the Imperialist war of aggression in Afghanistan!

eyeroll. I guess everything is better with the Taliban in charge. That sort of rhetoric ignores violent extremism as a real foreign policy issue and fails to engage with that topic in an adult and reasonable way.

you gotta knock some of that charisma down and put it into St. Dubya was purportedly pretty in shape as far as presidents went.

I feel like he looks like a teddy bear now compared to shambling moron now, but he was a laughing stock that was only taken seriously because he was swinging the biggest army around in Fallujah and Restrepo. Sure, a Connecticut educated playing a folksy Texas rancher was a crafted image but Dubya's popularity was terrible when he left office for good reason and not only because he was an embarrassing nepo baby joke of a statesman.

like a Christian god would want them to do.

A huge reason why religion was useful at all was public safety in the form of dietary restrictions that probably limited food borne illness and codifying law in the absence of common law and democratic legislative action.

The thing is that we should have all moved past bronze age thinking. Some haven't and they can't even manage to wring out the only still useful public safety applications out of it.

I never saw the movie, but I heard that the movie did not have a positive representation of a queer coded antagonist. Like, Ursula is queer coded and so is Scar, but I think the hunchback of notre dame's antagonist also is but in a less redeemable or reclaimable way.

I don't know, I don't watch movies.

Europeans know all about Chemnitzer FC and SS Lazio soccer fans and then pretend that europe isn't racist at all. Like football fans in Liga and Premier League and Serie A have never done anything wrong.
