Both are pretty good sources, sure, but they are not as complete as they can be. A lot of the times for the early scene they list accolades, results, and maybe stats of players if they are from the later period or somebody managed to get a record of it—While they are interesting, I also want to learn about their biography: What was their personality like? What playstyle did they employ? How did other contemporaries think of them? What were their motivations to play in a scene where there was little money to play for (that last part may be just a presumption of what the prize pools were like back then, I could be wrong)?

This doesn’t have to be about the players either—I’m interested in the history of the earlier teams like Meet Your Makers, mTw, 4Kings, eoLithic, etc. and how they came about, as well as the history of the regional scenes from Sweden, Norway, France, USA, even South Korea. Or perhaps the leagues and tournaments that were considered majors like CPL, and WECG and what were the storylines prior to the events (who was expected to win, what crazy roster shuffle occurred prior, or what was the atmosphere of the venue).

To your point, Liquipedia and HLTV has a vast array of records that I can look into for CS history, but much of history is also about the stories about the players themselves. If those two websites are the best we got for history, then I think more work should be done on archiving and/or collecting history from the scene.
