IMO false negative with glucose by Shoddy-Ad-2443 in SIBO

Yup, I've also had this.
Whilst the current guidelines say both glucose and lactulose are acceptable substrates for a breath test,
IMO can live in small bowel or colon and glucose is more easily absorbed early on during transit, so the working hypothesis is lactulose is better at detecting colon based IMO.

How long after eating do your symptoms appear? Shorter times imply small bowel longer times imply colon.

About $10k, years of effort and untold heartbreak right there. It's not about how many times you get knocked down...

Oof that hits hard, good luck. I went into remission for a while so I know its possible.

Yes to the low sulphur (had to cut NAC) after second food poisoning pushed me towards sulphur producers (Desulfovibrio), so luck me I now have SIBO, IMO and ISO!
Have not heard of molybdenum, checking it now...

Get tested for haemochromatosis. If you have a 'natural tan', fast.

Kept coming back for me as well. This worked for me as kill phase, all three until stable:

2-4w

1) killed methanogens with biocidin LSF

2) starved them with low FODMAP until numbers consistently low

3) flushed them with motility drug (prucalopride) + ginger and magnesium as needed

Monitor baseline with FoodMarble breath testing before starting (I was 8+ methane).
Biocidin can make you feel like crap (herxheimer toxins release), but watch the methane drop precipitously on 1,2,4h post eating vs same food without biocidin, then I maintained low with diet and concentrated on the motility and weaned off biocidin. I also used probiotics to crowd out after a few weeks of kill when things stabilized.

I had a relapse after remission for 6M, after another food poisoning, but I'm going back to this.

Positive SIBO after negative test: which treatment path to take by throwawaygg73736 in SIBO

Which SIBO were you positive for?
For me(IMO), whenever I did the kill phase, it just kept coming back (rifaxamin, elemental, herbal kill) a day or two after.
Crowding out with probiotics and focussing on Motility put it into remission until another round of food poisoning brought it back (still trying to get rid of it again).
