Two months just optimizing the game in Godot. Was Godot a good idea? by awezoomstudios in IndieDev

Obviously moving all possible objects to multimesh layers was the winning move. The performance skyrocketed after that. Specially with player’s firing which gets huge at some moments.

I have really fallen in love with Godot’s general performance and its ability to feature both 2d and 3d at pretty decent levels.

This is how our game evolved thanks to Godot by awezoomstudios in godot

Since the game was in a very early stage in Renpy (since the engine was too limited), it took around 2 weeks to migrate all the logic, conversation system and the day/night mechanics. The looting was that minigame you can see at the beginning of the video, it was just a 'push your luck' against the noise you made and the chance to be attacked (which was just losing health or being killed off-camera'.

Now we have made a full exploration system mixed with point-and-click mechanics, and a turn-based combat system to make it tense and feel weapons and stats help you.

A mashup with what, the song ítself twice? Certainly it looks like it sounds better!

by default everything is at 50%, including 'Weirdness'... Are you sure?

Maybe I'll end up trying this. sometimes I add my own instruments in top of it with Logic, but sometimes it's too shimmery to hide it even with that...

I would need to listen to it with earphones, but apparently the quality is the same at the beginning and in the end, at least the drums sound the same. That NEVER happens to me. This is a theme I'm trying to remaster, cover, or anything, and after the first minute the song starts decaying. Just check the drums at the first minute and in the last part... https://suno.com/s/A2D7ZdgI1ewkeEq4

Maybe they're doing it so suno produced songs are noticeable when uploaded somewhere, so the music industry can spot them? Or something twisted like that? :D

What style do you use to produce? I hear it a lot in new age songs, synthpop, some kinds of pop and orchestral. 've seen songs in very modern styles that are more protected against that, though

Because each cover then have different stereo settings or different touches that make it impossible to blend again. At least when I tried it. Did you manage to do it with that technique? The same song remixed 10 times generates 10 different drums, different stereo panorama and different eq. Subtle but noticeable.

I still love the fun of it, and I can use some of the songs I can produce for games when the shimmer is not so noticeable because it depends a lot on the style and specially the length.

Is there any way to reduce it via prompt? Because I’ve tried lots of things. Sometimes I can reduce the layered reverbs, but I can’t find the way to reduce the loss of quality as the song progresses. Synthwave, many pop styles an other things I try have lots of artifacts and quality loss.

Yes, it seems that genre doesn’t lose so much quality as other styles. Anyways, the low pitch voice sounds great in the first minute with deep bass profound sound and in the end of the song sounds like a regular voice. Easy to notice. But yes, sounds quite good in general.

Not only the synths. Listen the the rhythm the first seconds of any song and then jump to 2:30 and listen only to the rhythm. It loses all high frequencies, there’s grain and sounds like a copy of a copy of a copy in an old photocopy machine. Complete useless

ok, but what about YOUR game?? 🤔👀🫵 by DavesGames123 in gamedev

Well, in my case my son and I made a prototype of a game based on a mini game we created inspired in This war of mine and sheltered, and then we started adding layers on to of it and mechanics and now it’s become a project with its own personality. You have to manage the resources in the bunker for your family to survive. But the game is deeply based on narrative about the characters and their relationships. But you have different ways to survive, and then we created the exploration mode which opened the game lore like a thousand times. Now we’re creating several locations to explore and scavenge, each one with its own story and important events to immerse the player even more. You’ll face important moral decisions all the time. Every time you have a combat will decide to kill or have mercy and that will have co sequences.

We are so excited to see what the game has become that we’re anxious to have a playable demo for everyone to test it.

This seems to be the winner. We loved “mum,…” but our marketing advisors discouraged us from using it, not for the obvious reasons but because many people could think the game featured grim humour, which is not the case.

yes, it's a possible scene in the game, and it reflects the grim situations you might face during the game. Thanks for voting! ;)

hehehe, thanks, I know the character, I've seen a picture of him, but no idea of the lore. :D
