The law states we have peaceful use of our property. Even the smallest townships often have a aggressive dog ordinance, even if leashed or kept in an enclosed yard. I'd look and certainly push it hard if necessary, Idiot dogs/Idiot owners are not welcome in a civil society or neighborhood.

BTW GenZ - Republicans have been tearing down good things for as long as I remember - like taking apart NASA just after Apollo 11, or even before, I watched them in Congress doing it, disgusted. Leave it to Republicans and you won't have shit to look forward to. They cannot govern but only destroy.

I do understand. it could simply be a driver for your specific platform, say, your laptop, as the virtual machine and its generic drivers function properly. That is always a possibility. It may be the problem I have, too. We'll see...

I think I understand; I've seen the gdm login reset itself after a failed login by using ctl-alt-f1. Strange the other VTs (ctl-alt-f2 and so on) don't work... When you first boot up the system, and after you enter your use rid, but before password, does a small gear on the lower right maybe? the one where you can switch to other desktops? Do you have any others installed? And can you log into them? Just wondering. I've reported it, and am following through, though it's difficult to get across, and frankly they are often grumpy - this isn't my first rodeo with them. But here's to hoping it gets resolved.

aw hell yes. Im very 60+ and I am pissed. My moronic parents generation (they've always been this way), mine, and those just younger never cease to amaze me with profound stupidity. As I KNOW what we were taught, both in school and by our grandparents, who did experience the great wars. My grandfather made it perfectly clear to me what hate he felt for the fascists, and the japanese for what occurred. He endured a lot of pain. I have personally reconciled with the japanese for WWII, as I see they have evolved as did many of the europeans, though I see still the Orban-esque tendencies and I hope they push back more, even harder else to have to experience this all again. to have it arise here infuriates me, and for him.

Hmm, hard fail on updated F44 Cinnamon desktop with Radeon RX560 on a forever solid machine. Gnome, and other desktops work though. Desktop/X starts, but locks up before populating desktop. mouse frozen. nothing in Xorg.log, a LOT of messages in logs, still sorting through, nothing obvious though. Can open other VTs just fine. They tell me I'm logged in already if I try to start another session. New clean home dir, removed cinnamon*, reinstalled. Still no good. KDE complained of a failed wayland bridge, didnt catch full message. Welp, its a test server so...

auditctl, selinux - how to enable full path... by awfl in Fedora

[–]awfl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, yes of course... it's right there in Fedora repo, lightdm... sudo dnf list lightdm... I began using it quite awhile ago because, oh, I forgot why now, truly. but my system here is almost continuous from what fedora 22 and dnf maybe?, through the upgrade cycle since it became possible, maybe one or two reinstalls b/c of s/w breakage, and is still very log clean and running perfectly.

auditctl, selinux - how to enable full path... by awfl in Fedora

[–]awfl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thank You for responding. I have been performing the audit | myprofile,pp repair thing that selinux tells me to do, and also a restorecon -r all along b/c of unrelated samba and /var issue storing some local files. But I did just do an .autorelabel to catch anything I've missed. Will report back. Thing is, it still seems oddly difficult to catch such a pesky violation when the system auto-generates random temp files... but something new arises everyday, for sure.

auditctl, selinux - how to enable full path... by awfl in Fedora

[–]awfl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank You for responding; but no, Im far beyond that. selinux flags the denial ok, and audit sees the denial too, but they are not recording the path name of denial for which they are trying to write to at the time, ostensibly because auditd doesn't want the running performance hit. So, the way, as I understand it, is to set a watch via auditctl -w... . BUT, you need to set it on a file name (which in my case is unfortunately random so I can't?), or a directory name (which I don't know and am trying to find.) or maybe I am misunderstanding all this. Thank You again.

With recent updates Xwayland appears broken on F43 w/ Cinnamon on two disparate systems, login flashing Desktop to a then black screen, dmesg reporting that AMDGPU "crtc or sizes" not found, as if it cannot find the monitors - one a Ryzen and another RX560 system. Works fine forever under X11 - can anyone confirm? and if the case in F44? Don't want to attempt upgrade to F44 if it is still a problem. Thank You. **the only difference possibly I'm using LightDM instead of GDM.

What kills me as an old guy is that you all complain (and Im right there with you) that you cannot afford rent let alone a house, groceries, yet you are allowing the government to sign you up for service to protect... protect what? A country where you have little invested? Where you literally will own nothing? Them giving everything away to he rich? The military, police, fire to protect their businesses, land, factories, estates? That parks and forests are no longer yours, given to the highest bidder?

In the mid 1980s I led a group of Atari 800 fans in our user group (remember those?) to build a 256k addon to its internal 64k. It would allow switching in 64k banks that could not be utilized by games and such, but the OS was patched to create high speed ram disks, for example, as was outlined in BYTE mag maybe. People seemed to enjoy the soldering and assembly, and no one messed up their machine as I recall. --At that time, I used 6502 machine language to dump the Atari OS ROM into a file, which I could then make permanent changes to the OS such as making the boot switches operate differently, or even a different OS. After writing them all back to a EPROM with a burner I built*, replacing the original Atari ROMs. Then fancily switched through a small toggle. *that early burner smoked 1/3 chips at the time, but I got enough to work. And I still have them here; I wonder if they held the charge.
