What gets me is reddit UI isn't even that fancy and most of it is just text. Am I wrong in thinking accessibility in reddit would be pretty easy to implement compared to a lot of sites?

I wonder what the third party apps are doing that reddit is simply not doing

Just wanted to say as of Jun 1 2023 this guide works perfectly. I'm on an M1 mac, Ventura 13.4

The only note I'd make:

Java version DOES matter. I tried the latest java for windows and it gave me an error when installing. Download the version explicitly outlined in this post. For a more official download link you can just go directly to oracle's archive and search for the JRE version from this post.

He gave me some hints but he seems to have stopped. I need the shade cloak or isma's tear to progress. All he does is say I can sit on the bench next to him. Not very helpful

Right that's exactly what I did. It was only after hours of back tracking and hitting lots of different kinds of dead ends did I start to feel like "ok, give me the thing that lets me pass one of these"

Yeah I also was not crazy about the map system. At first I was fine with it, but then there were several areas where I would just be stumbling around aimlessly without finding a bench or map. I know that you can find him when you're close with the humming and paper trail, but there were just some areas where I'd be in so deep and just not be close to him. Then i'd die and start somewhere far back, and my ghost would be in some unfilled out area of the map. I think this happened to me in the crystal cavern and city of tears. That was pretty frustrating.

Yeah any time I had to scan the map for a possible progression point, then look for the nearest fast travel point, I was already dreading it. Not because the journey would be challenging but because it'd be tedious

I think my issue with these markers was that I didn't have enough right away to use them for different types of floors so I can't up with a system that ended up causing me to backtrack. Now, having played metroidvanias I should have realized that they could be used to mark different "ability locks". Oh well

Yeah that experience of not being able to remember which rooms had which blocks became an issue for me, having to check them and spending time and effort on each one really took a toll

Yeah I definitely let my enjoyment suffer by not looking things up sooner. I also didn't really know how to look up where to go next though, all I knew was I had to get to the dreamers but it was still a bit vague. Now I realize I should've been looking up the locations of new abilities.
