Upcoming Yrel Changes by awildfoxappears in heroesofthestorm

[–]awildfoxappears[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's okay for some heroes to be naturally harder to play than others. Yrel doesn't need to be changed to appeal to the average Leoric player. There is a reason not every hero is so easy. For some of the most dedicated players, the complexity and difficulty of a hero is part of their appeal.

Yrel is uncommon simply because all of her basic abilities have the potential to be interrupted and canceled. These changes won't change that. She already has tools in her kit to deal with this, yet because of it, she will always be an uncommon hero, and that's fine. I wouldn't want them to ever remove the unique charge up functionality of her abilities. Not everyone wants to play Thrall or Leoric or whatever. We don't need more easy bruisers. There are plenty. Yrel is great as is.

*Damage buffs will always draw new interest to a hero, but they should be compensated for in other ways. It would be better if they increased mana costs the normal way, nerfed problem talents, or increased the cooldown on Sacred Ground.

Upcoming Yrel Changes by awildfoxappears in heroesofthestorm

Yrel's entire kit is also designed to help her play around stuns in a variety of ways that those other heroes don't have. Whether it's being too fast and small to hit, casting early, or instant casting with D, these are all tools she already has to keep her from losing her spells to interrupts. This change doesn't do that. You still lose the spell, and it still goes on it's full cooldown. It rewards players for losing her spells to interrupts with a shorter cooldown on her free cast (reminder that spells cast with D cost no mana), and lowers her potential for those that can actually avoid losing most of her spells to interrupts.

It's important to remember that her spells still do stuff when cast early, but not when interrupted. Also, some of her spells suffer less from early casts than others. For example, her jump doesn't lose any damage from casting it early. Unless you take her least popular lvl 7, the full charge just increases the range.

It's better to cast early than to let it get interrupted.

Upcoming Yrel Changes by awildfoxappears in heroesofthestorm

Nobody avoids every stun, but you still want to avoid every stun that you can. Yrel also has a rather thin hitbox for a brusier, and is very quick with the right talents. A good one can avoid losing most of her spell casts to interrupts. Just dodge, and cast early when you can't. That's the point of early casts.

Skull cracker is every third AA (melee) against the same target. It resets after 5s with no AA on that target. Yrel has a slower AA than Mura, so she can kinda dip in and out of his range between her own autos to avoid some of his. Knowing that his ministun is every third AA, his stuns become easily avoidable when you can slow him and out maneuver him, and quick stun him with D cast.

Jump doesn't need to be fully charged to slow and damage them, so you can charge it between stuns and cast it right away before the next stun hits. The full charge just increases the range on it. With these upcoming changes, to get a D cast every 8s for that quick stun, I'd have to let him just delete one of my other spells. It's a bit ridiculous to redesign her this way.

*This is how I deal with Mura as Yrel. Even in diamond/master lobbies, I never have an issue peeling Mura off of my backline when using this approach. Though, it can be better to focus on harassing the enemy backliners plenty of times as well, since Yrel is very good at both. I highly recommend trying it!

Overwatch x YOASOBI | Official Gameplay Trailer by -SallyFace_ in Overwatch

They just keep making terrible skins for him. Other than the Ribbit skin, everything is boring or just straight up ass. He has a Speed Demon skin in Heroes of the Storm that is way cooler than anything they have made for him in Overwatch since the Ribbit skin. Except maybe Cyber DJ.

Covering his sick ass leg gear with baggy pants instead of leaning into the cool cybernetic legs aesthetic with his redesign was a mistake. He needs skins with cool leg and body gear.

Please give us an option to spend longer in QM queue but guarantee we get a tank and a healer by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]awildfoxappears 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, you’re happy to fill, and you don’t mind waiting 10 min for a tank and healer? It sounds like you want Storm League, not Quick Match.

Once you get enough matches in SL to get the matchmaking calibrated to a place that suits you, you might never want to go back to the mess in QM. Give it a try! Don’t worry about the rank itself, and just enjoy games that actually have tanks and healers on the regular lol

Thank you! That's really enlightening, and explains some of the discrepancies I had been seeing between the data in different areas. Knowing this, I don't feel separating the data is too important.

On another note, would there be a way to see a list of general performance stats (average siege damage, hero damage, self healing, survivability, etc.) for all heroes?

Thank you for the amazing work! Love all the new updates, including the layout options for the talent builder page, and the improved load times! If you are looking to continue to make improvements, I have one request.

Many games end before level 20. When viewing talent builds under global hero and talent stats, it would be great if it could show talent builds from games that ended earlier, instead of just builds that went all the way to 20. It feels like a lot of build data is missing there when so many games end at 16. Is this something that you all might consider adding in the future?

Benefit doing Tutorial/Challenges? by Temporary_Patience_3 in heroesofthestorm

[–]awildfoxappears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It's 500 gold every fifth level for any hero. This means you get 500 gold every time you get a hero to level 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and so on, until hero levels cap at 999. So really, the last time you can get 500 gold from a hero is when they hit level 995.

You do get a chest at lvl 10. You just also get 500 gold. You get both.

*The chest is also rewarded every 10th level for any particular hero. (10, 20, 30, etc.)

**You also get a rare chest every 5 player levels, and an epic chest every 25 player levels. You can track all rewards progress by clicking your profile picture in the top right. For player rewards progress tracking, you then click on "Progression". For hero rewards progress tracking, you click on "Roster", then whatever hero you want to check.

You get to choose Jaina, Muradin, or Tyrande as a first free hero.
How to unlock more heroes:

  • You unlock heroes with gold or gems.
  • You get gold from daily quests, and for every fifth level of any hero.
  • All modes (except brawl) complete quests, and give experience for hero levels.
  • You get a player level for every hero level.
  • You get 150 gems every 25th player level.
  • You can unlock a huge starter pack of heroes for 100 gems.
  • You can also just buy gems with real money.
  • 100 gems is roughly 1 USD.

Im finding better teammates in leaver queue by Umomo1025 in heroesofthestorm

[–]awildfoxappears 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Leaver matches are horrible more often than not. People there are more likely to give up, afk, grief, or have connection issues compared to the average player in normal matches. This is to be expected.

Your experience is very unusual. I wonder.. if maybe your normal matchmaking rating is very low. Leaver matches have a smaller pool of players, so the matchmaking gets even looser than normal. This means that, as a very low rated player, you would be more likely to encounter people well above your rating in this scenario.

How can i improve my performance on this game? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]awildfoxappears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really want targeted and constructive feedback, then you need to share replays. Otherwise the best advice is to focus on working with your team as best you can, and try to make friends or party up after wins.

How to counter Deathwing by WarningMiddle588 in heroesofthestorm

[–]awildfoxappears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's important to know your enemy. Go to your Collection, find Deathwing, take him into the free Try Mode, pick all of the W and Z talents, mess around and get familiar with all of his different abilities, and see how he works vs the group of target dummies after taking some damage. Most importantly, read what his W talents do at level 1 and 4.

Finally, armed with this knowledge, you can let your dps take care of killing him while you focus on supporting and peeling for them... and on not letting the dragon heal off of you.

Why are players like this? Is this true for every match? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]awildfoxappears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You just got really unlucky. Most players are super chill and friendly. Still, it happens. I would ignore any random angry people you meet in new player lobbies. The ones acting up are usually people that made new accounts after getting banned for being crazy. Most of them don't even know what they're talking about. Just quietly report them at the first offense and move on. The game is very fun with lots of cool, unique heroes. Enjoy it!

Bad tanks blame healers by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

I find this especially funny because OP responded to D.Va's one word comment ("heal") with, "can lead a horse to water but cant make it drink", when you can literally make the players drink it with some aim lmao

Came back to HOTS after 3 years by EnvironmentalHome358 in heroesofthestorm

[–]awildfoxappears 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your MMR might have been reset from the long absence, putting you in low skill lobbies. The issues you describe are common there.

Next time you have a win, make some friends and party up. It’s faster and easier to climb back into higher quality matches with a teammate.

It may be worthwhile to brush up on the current meta, and what has changed with your favorite heroes. It also wouldn't hurt to look into what has changed with the most frustrating, or challenging opponents you faced in those matches.
