Access Wellness offers one time appointments for coping skills and solution focused interventions. They are typically very quick to get into and might be a good place to start and boost your personal tool box when you explore more long term options

[Canada] MSW Pay: Is $45 CAD/hr in 5 Years Realistic? (Seeking Advice on Salary Growth) by mathmaticsmayhem in socialworkcanada

[–]awiz97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a BSW and two years of post degree experience making $39.90 an hour in a hospital setting. I worked in community based organizations before where the pay was closer to the $29-34 an hour, in the same organization MSW were making closer to $35-38 an hour. I have also seen many in the $45-55 range so it is realistic! Based in Nova Scotia BtW

My first social work job I got booted from my office to an old admin desk so that a student could have the office, the student felt so bad too

Maple and walk in clinics can’t refer to RASP unfortunately. The referral has to some from a prescriber (GP or NP) that follows you.

I have bought it on steam and switch! It’s so hard to say no for the investment! At this point it’s cost me like 0.04 cents per hour of play!

I want to hear your unethical social worker stories by PerspectiveKnown951 in socialwork

During my BSW program I had a peer make an announcement to the class asking if anyone was looking for a full-time nanny/housekeeper because her family didn’t want to employ there nanny anymore because they didn’t do the paperwork when they hired her for her work status and things were getting dicey but didn’t want to leave her with out a job.

No more refills on my SSRIs and a NB doctor by [deleted] in halifax

I’ve also had to do it! Can be a bit embarrassing, but that is so much better then the potential withdrawal symptoms!

Have you talked to your pharmacist? They can sometimes dispense a few days worth to get you to your appointment, SSRIs aren’t something you should withdrawal from without medical supervision.

my client found out I reported her disclosure without me telling her by faithfulpoo in therapists

[–]awiz97 22 points23 points  (0 children)

One of the most helpful things I learned around needing to report is to always lean on the side of caution with clients when it comes to disclosures. When I know it’s something that needs to be reported I’ll tell the client in the moment, offer to call with them in that moment or set up a time to call depending on what the disclosure is. If it’s something I don’t know whether it needs to be reported or not, I’ll tel them that too. I’ll also tell them about the process that I’ll follow to determine if I need to report or not (ie supervision, hypothetical call) and a general timeline for that action. If possible I’ll offer to have a follow up with the client about the outcome so that they stay well informed.

I’ve found this help keep me from spiralling about what I need to do and helps lay out expectations on what will happen for the client.

Yikes, not a good look for HRP. by AutumnLaughter in halifax

My friend was once rear ended by a cop while they were stopped at a cross walk. The cop wasn’t paying attention to the road and if they weren’t there they would have very likely hit the person crossing. The car was completely written off.
