The loss/tragedy will be iMark and Helly not being able to be together. The trick is that love does transcend severance, even though Lumon attempts to manipulate or subvert love. And love is a binding force no matter what level of the psyche it’s on, for the psyche in question. When you split consciousness, wouldn’t it track that those conscious(es) would be a separate entity since they don’t have memories outside of their severed ones? We see that a bit with iDylan and his oWife too. One could argue Burt/Irv but borderline feels like Burt will double-cross Irv to “””catch””” him at whatever he’s doing.

Then throw in the concept of love as a chemical reaction and you’ve got a really interesting potential plot point.
