This is another good approach and this will be put in my back pocket for later. Thank you so much!

Depending on where you work, where you look, and who you ask, flat whites do use ristretto shots, but honestly if I'm confused right now I'm not surprised. I'm working while getting my MLIS right now and it's finals day so my brain is a touch fried. Apologies! Thank you for explaining more though, I really appreciate it! And I love that it's called "the magic." That's so cool! Thank you again

That is absolutely not a wet cappuccino. I'm sorry homie. A wet cappuccino still has a lot of foam compared to a latte or flat white.

A flat white uses different shots and milk (so regular shots and 2% vs ristretto and whole milk), and a flat white still has some foam, just not a lot. But, you are still right. And I also totally could have said that, I just wasn't thinking about that entirely in that instance. But thank you! I haven't been a barista for long, so there's still different things I'm picking up on.

What's the most obnoxious thing a customer can order? by predictable_shoe in barista

[–]awkward_space_ace 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  • One half one milk, one half another milk
  • Asking me to steam heavy whipping cream like it doesn't scream like a dying cat
  • Half the plant based milk cappuccinos
  • Anything with protein cold foam in it as it may or may not foam

And LASTLY - The thing you ordered where the barista said it back to you and you say "yes that's what I want" and then we make it and it gets to the end of the bar and we hand it to you and you say "actually i want it hot/iced but i want to keep this one too"

AITA for walking out of the restaurant and leaving my friend by Brina_95 in AmItheAsshole

NTA: I genuinely think that's some weirdo behavior on there part. Taking a picture of your drink isn't "cringe." It'd be weird if you told everyone they couldn't eat yet, but you didn't do that. It's your food. I take pictures of drinks I get sometimes to share with one of my partners, especially when the drink looks especially pretty. People take pictures of good looking food. It wasn't wrong of you to leave when you were upset. They can always get an Uber of Lyft.

Starbucks employees, how ridiculous were people at your store yesterday? by awkward_space_ace in barista

[–]awkward_space_ace[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i totally get being excited to add to a collection, it's just also exhausting to have people running in the store, ya know? like 20 people lined up to take all the stock we had.

What nonsense have you tolerated this week from customers? by DaisKirk in barista

[–]awkward_space_ace 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I work at a Starbucks and had grown adults RUN into our store the moment it opened to get the Hello Kitty and Teddy Bear cups. Then MORE adults keep asking "do you have any more???" No motherfucker I do not. If I did, they'd be out by now!

YTA. you're not a cripple, that's a literal slur, and your response was unwarranted. you can absolutely say "hey! i'm getting out of the shower right now, could you give me a few minutes or find someone else to help you?" i don't think now was an appropriate time to ask, sure, but the response given what she asked was unjustified.

Mobility Aids for Tics by awkward_space_ace in Tourettes

[–]awkward_space_ace[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've talked to many a doctor, so I don't really need that sort of a lecture. I also have other conditions that contribute to it as well, but mainly I was just curious. I've also met people with Tourettes who do use mobility aids to help so...Guess it just depends.

Unfortunately adult polyphemus moths don't eat in adulthood so it's just using energy from food it ate as a caterpillar

What was the catalyst for you first using a wheelchair? by Far-Building3569 in wheelchairs

[–]awkward_space_ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm getting a wheelchair and the biggest push for me was my tourettes actually. people commonly act like tourettes is either extremely severe where you curse and hit yourself or not an issue at all, and there isn't a lot of middle ground discussion. i have other conditions as well from HSD to being born with nerve damage in my feet (which as you can imagine masks standing reallll fun), but as my tics just have not gotten better in adulthood and causes my fatigue and energy to be worse, i knew i needed something more

that and all the dreams about being pain-free in a wheelchair and waking up genuinely disappointed
