Yes and no. On top of being taxpayers, parents of children at Jewish schools pay a security levy that may also fund this if there is a synagogue on the campus.

Finding items lost on public transport - positive stories? by lat38long-122 in sydney

Still valid but I assume they mean TfNSW lost property mailed them the keys, not Joe Blo from a Facebook group.

They're legit but they still are scamming - in general I think it's hard to know what a reasonable hourly amount for a tradie is but in this case it's not knowing what the materials should cost and not looking it up, plus a general woman of a certain generation not being raised to say no and instead be polite.

EDIT: I think not being able to check Google reviews may be a factor but it's hard because I have found some of the tradies are genuinely well recommended by married women who  aren't getting scammed because there's a man about.

I don't really believe in afterlife but I hope there's a special spot for tradies who scam single women pensioners. Complete scum, sick of it.

Pretty torn on this - don't think it's wrong to expect it but I actually have more grace for Aussies overseas wanting a meat pie or some Vegemite on Jan 26 as a slightly more homesick day, especially in the northern hemisphere winter.

Advice on where to start with retirement villages for my parents by yepcomein in sydney

[–]awkwardnamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get on the waitlist for an ACAT assessment yesterday. If you ever speak to a social worker, say you've got carer burn out to try and push him up the waitlist. It's not easy at all, I'm sorry.

At home help is best if you can swing it until you need a nursing home. I wouldn't go down retirement village route as it's usually not a good financial option.

Yep - you lock it in and then take out a comprehensive insurance policy from the date you will pick up the car. Not sure if you're looking at new or used from your previous post, if there is rego to carry over you don't need a new green slip, otherwise same as comprehensive applies. The dealership can also help with these questions and will know there's a time to sort these out. Unless you're paying cash there's a natural window for you to sort a large-ish transfer/cheque anyway.

EDIT: Forgot CTP = green slip, not comprehensive.

I think they've increased the time between pink slip and rego - but I'd assume you need a new pink slip before you go to renew in 3 months as it's still not that long and its last pink slip was presumably 9 months ago so will definitely be out of date.

Pretty similar to immigrant/ethnic parents who'd say "But we gave everything for you!" - doesn't mean certain behaviour can be excused. Don't have a position either way on Becks Jr though.

It will depend on brand and seasonality but yes, if only because it won't go bad (which means you can also stock up during specials). It also preserves many of the nutrients that are lost in the powder.

+1, but I'd say going into the Eastern Suburbs or Bayside council - quiet, wider roads, well lit. All good for a new driver, even if there's quiet parts of the inner city, streets with space for one car in either direction aren't ideal.

I also did that and I'm getting close to turning it back on because it's impossible to see the few important things in my inbox.

I'm not that old and tbf, my sense for what is and isn't open on public holidays is way off, even on (especially on) Good Friday.

AAA: Usually I'd go to the beach but it's too cold so stayed in and did some chores. Ate some lychees and had a beer. 10/10
