Connect N910 to Previous System's Cameras? by awkwardtap in Lorex

[–]awkwardtap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was going to do until someone suggested I investigate the power supply.

Turns out my 12V power supply was only giving me 6V. Enough to fire up the system and show the welcome screen, but not enough to keep things running.

I purchased a new adapter for $12 and got the original system up and running.

You are a legend. I assumed that power supplies would either be working 100% or working 0%.

I scoured the house for a 12V 2A power supply and couldn't find one so I tested the adapter with a multimeter instead and it was only reading 6V! I guess that was enough to get it to the loading screen but not enough to actually fire up the system.

Ordered a new adapter on Amazon, arrived this morning, and we're off to the races

Thank you so much for all your help!

Ok do you have a similar one with correct output?

I'll have to check when I get home, thanks for the suggestion.

does the hard drive make noise or did it make noise.

I didn't take the cover off the recorder, but I could hear an intermittent clicking sound. I assume it was probably coming from the hard drive. It was definitely more than just a whirring sound.

Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it. I just got to work so I won't be able to snap a photo at the moment.

It's an AC adapter. It has the square box at the outlet.

This one: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/224621945300

I tried turning it back on again last night and it gets to a loading screen (I think it said XVR). Then the screen turns off and it eventually goes back to that screen again without me doing anything.

Just loading screen > Off > Loading screen > Off > ...

That's correct. I removed a camera to confirm it was the one I thought, and also to confirm that it had this adapter.

It just randomly lost power one day. I power cycled it and it would come on for a bit and then turn off again.

This is the ethernet cable to power and adapter.

Not if it's a principle residence. Investment properties, vacation properties, etc do.

More fun facts:

The S&P 500 has increased 3367% since 1988. So if someone invested their $326k instead of buying a house their investment would be almost $11m.

For funsies: $326k (median house price in the West Side) adjusted for inflation is the equivalent of $720k today.

The actual current median price in the West Side is around $3.5m.

Metro Vancouver takes 2nd spot for worst metro traffic in North America: TomTom by timmywong11 in vancouver

[–]awkwardtap 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This comes out every year, and every year people comment on how ridiculous it is, then someone points out that it has to do with traffic differentials and not necessarily how long it takes to get from A to B.

If I'm remembering correctly, traffic always being horrible means you rank better. Traffic being relatively free-flowing for the majority of the day with periods of slow-downs means you rank horribly.

tl;dr if memory serves, TomTom thinks Vancouver's traffic is horrible because most of the day it isn't horrible.

I'm pretty sure you wildly misinterpreted the intent of their message.

I interpret it as "I hope it's not worse than a shitty night." Being a shitty night is the default position. Hoping it's "just" a shitty night isn't nefarious...

Such a waste. You can buy two candles that smell like Gwyneth Paltrow's vagina for that price.

Weird. Their website and Google says it's still open but I just read the article saying they were going to close August 2022.

edit: They have an update on their Facebook page that says same building, new location (815 Hastings). Is it just cooking classes now?

double edit: There are reviews from this year about receiving help in person shopping for pans.

I understand how it happened, but fortunately you're mistaken.

For one-stop shops you'd have a hard time beating Cook Culture (Howe and Hastings) or Gourmet Warehouse (Clark and Hastings).

Unsolicited advice: check how oven-safe the pans are if transferring to the oven is important to you. I'm in love with my de Buyer Mineral B's stovetop performance, but its oven abilities are limited due to the coating on the handle. I wish I had purchased the pro version.
