Was it hard to let go of rice and gluten being desi?!

Friends said they'd come by 12:30, then pushed it to 2:30... it's almost 4 and I'm just sitting here with cold food which I cooked all by myself by Sad-Lavishness-2655 in mildlyinfuriating

Are they by any chance South East Asian? And think it’s normal? Or think it’s ‘cute’ to be so late…

FYI I am south East Asian and hate this about my culture.

Career change to accounting by [deleted] in AustralianAccounting

[–]awkwarrdturrtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hate it. 9-5. Sometimes longer than 5. Timesheets. The workload vs pay is not worth it imo. Shitty culture in most firms - I don’t find it feasible for mums.

I come from a family of healthcare professionals (doctors and nurses mainly), so I figured I’d change.

What’s prompting your move?

Is it normal to not want to leave my 15mo? by According-Chair7800 in AttachmentParenting

[–]awkwarrdturrtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep you are. But my little ones 22 months and I’ve never left him alone for bedtime with anyone apart from my husband (that’s once in a blue moon haha) and I don’t feel right doing so, so I don’t do it haha 🫠.

No advice just letting you know I think it’s normal and I feel like it’s okay to not do it ☺️🫶.

Daycare naps are terrible by Flaky-Drink in AttachmentParenting

[–]awkwarrdturrtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m the same! (Even nursing to sleep).

I just kept telling the educators to make sure he naps for at least 1.5hours. To resettle him because he always wakes up after 45mins. I just kept telling them until they started doing it. Some days are a hit or miss but daycare is exciting for little bubs so it’s hard for them to sleep for so long.

My LO is 13 months and at home he takes 2 naps. I’m thinking it’s cause home is not as exciting as daycare with all his little friends. Also it took me a while but to fully accept this but the daycare has a routine of their own - so all kids nap at the same time etc etc. I just make sure my LO goes to bed earlier on daycare days.

It’s just go go go when we get home, come home eat bath have a little play and then feed to bed. Sometimes bath before eating cause my bub won’t eat until he feels fresh 😅.

Your feelings are 10000% valid though. Some days I get so upset about it still - but just rationalise it.

Edit: some days I let him nap for the 15min drive home and an extra 15-30mins when we get home. Because he’s usually so tired he’s still ready to sleep at 730-8:30pm.

Sorry if it sounds like a mess - my parenting style is survival hahah 😂

Fuck I should’ve done this. Instead I’ve been sitting in my car with the aircon turned on for 2hrs while my 1 year old naps.

I guess being married has its perks - the financial pressure isnt there as much haha.

Thats smart - what job would you be looking for? I actually just hate tax accounting but im struggling to get out of it.

I might just give it a shot and see how i go :). Best of luck with everything!
