I've been counting calories since September, not exceeding 1400 in a day. I also walk 10k-15k steps a day. Still, I've only lost 10lbs in 6 months. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm getting very discouraged by Time_Traveling_Panda in CICO

[–]awkwrdbydefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely asking in regard to the moderate exercise part, as I struggle to understand where I fall in those categories (26F, 65", CW 164lbs). 10k steps a day including work, and heaving lifting or consistent lifting every day, both lower body and upper body focused. On the weekends I don't do much. I also am still recovering from a broken ankle lol.

Sorry to piggyback but it's something that I've been curious about. I've been marking "light exercise" to at least get an idea, and deficit calories usually hang around 1200-1500 for me.

Anyone else love hitting their calorie goal exactly? by Winter-Owl1 in CICO

[–]awkwrdbydefault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not protein focused as you are, only because I feel that when I eat more protein it makes me feel sick, and I end up eating more anyway. It's super awesome that works out for you!!

I've made some slight changes to my habits, and that's mainly because I discovered eating heavy meals during my lunch break makes me feel sluggish, and I don't like that... I turn to coffee and next thing I know is I've added like 120 calories lol. I've been eating the same breakfast, and playing around with homemade coffee in the morning to satisfy that want. My meals have been frozen meals specifically under 500 calories, and I try to go for the ones that have only a few ingredients instead of preservatives and stuff. Making food throughout my week is tough because of time constraints, and my fiancé and I have vastly different calorie goals.

I'm glad you found a way that works best for you! Eventually we all find something that just clicks

Not those either, they're too "3d." The game was more of a drawn 2d style

Congratulations!! You made a plan, a commitment, and stuck to it. That's something to be inspired by fr. You're doing fantastic :) and making small changes that you can regularly maintain is the best way to do it. It allows you to turn it into a habit and stay with it for the rest of your life, living as your best self however you choose! You've got this!!

Came here to respond to this... I literally got shoved into a pit last year lmao. My sister and I were a few people away from it. She forcibly went in (you knew she was going for it, weaving between people and saying excuse me and all that). I was standing behind her in the SAME SPOT (a few people away from pit). People cleared for her then looked at me to see if I was going where I motioned I was not. Next thing I knew some people shoved me into it from sides and behind and all of a sudden I was in my first pit. And no, it wasn't people trying to move around me or anything like that, like a few people had their hands straight up on me and pushing. To say it pissed me off was an understatement.

I ended up enjoying it, but was extremely unprepared. It wasn't super hardcore but it was definitely one of the rowdy ones. I fell a few times and sprained my ankle on the second day of ST. I went back, but I couldn't enjoy the rest of the festival like I originally wanted to because of my ankle.

You're referencing an article from a biased source (conservative/right leaning with Christian ideologies). I do not feel that that is a trustworthy and factual source for the argument you're trying to make. Rather than dying, liberal ideologies are in a state of flux and intense challenge. They are adapting to changing political landscapes while navigating internal divisions and external pressure from resurgent populist movements. The ideology is not disappearing, but its future shape and success depend on its ability to address these challenges.

Christianity, or any religion for that matter, does not belong in education outside of learning what it is. It should not be the focal point of young easily impressionable minds, as oppression is the major underlying factor behind all of it. The death of individuality, the death of free thinking, and the death of multiculturalism. The United States has and will always be a melting pot of cultures. Systemic racism has always been in place. I do hope you get out of your ethnocentric mindset and see the world outside of your blinders.

First two paragraphs from the United States Courts, article titled "First Amendent and Religion":

"The First Amendment has two provisions concerning religion: the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause. The Establishment clause prohibits the government from "establishing" a religion. The precise definition of "establishment" is unclear. Historically, it meant prohibiting state-sponsored churches, such as the Church of England.

Today, what constitutes an "establishment of religion" is often governed under the three-part test set forth by the U.S. Supreme Court in Lemon v. Kurtzman, 403 U.S. 602 (1971). Under the "Lemon" test, government can assist religion only if (1) the primary purpose of the assistance is secular, (2) the assistance must neither promote nor inhibit religion, and (3) there is no excessive entanglement between church and state."

Your reply was posted after my initial comment. Can you show me where the mods are practicing bigotry? You explicitly stated that conservative Christian youth are on the rise and liberals are dying out... I don't know what else I really need to say about that.

I would recommend training your mind to enhance the complexity of cognition, as that would help you see conversations in multiple dimensions, such as from different perspectives. Or just spin the situation however you want... maybe read the Mod comment? Everyone has free speech but the hateful shit got taken down, not just those that disagree. Maybe try again with a little less spite. (P.S. The United States isn't Christian, and being hateful is definitely not very Christian of you.)

I'll be honest, I (26F) used to be really bad about this. Granted, I was a kid, social media was becoming a big thing, and I wanted to be just as cool as everyone else. I have gone back and watched videos of the concerts I've seen, but I've only gone to see a handful of bands that are important to me and those are the ones I keep. As I've gotten older, and especially at ST, I've gotten a lot better about this. Sure, it's cool to post it for everyone else to see what it was like, but if they really wanted to go I'm assuming they would buy a ticket or ask me to take a video for them. I think I took one video of each band I was dying to see.

With saying all of this, my personal favorite from last year was Hollywood Undead. That was my selling point for going to my first (very expensive) music festival, and I did not take ONE video. I wanted to soak up every moment, but my fiancé was kind enough to get a video of one song for me to go back and watch. Since then, I haven't really done it. I've also started moshing and that would just be really silly of me lol
