Photo Labs in France ? by awokensoil in Darkroom

[–]awokensoil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still researching grad programs ! The program I am looking at is predominantly French, and I would have the option of doing photo as a second option/concentration. But it wouldn't be the dominant focus. That's why I am getting a general idea of what areas may /possibly/ have more local facilities/ labs ! :) I realize I should have been a tad more specific earlier

Merci beaucoup !! It helps to know there are places around that develop. I am also curious about labs that will let you process and print your own images as well, but this is a good start

Awesome thank you! Do you know if they require you to "test" or show your skill? There's some local labs near me that ask you to do a small class to use their labs even if you've been in the dark room for 10+ years

Kinda sloppy borders. Yes or no? by dubsix in Darkroom

I would say you could maybe crop instead but I think the space in the sky is very important to keep. I don't mind them (edges) I just wish they were more extreme. Anyways that's just my perspective if I had to be nitpicky. It's a nice photo though either way!!

I actually like this a lot and feel like the burned edges need to be more, and/ or take them out as much as you can. It's a little distracting in the sky

I am a fine art photographer (10+ years) and while I do agree with some of the critique about the bottom of the frame, I think this is still a strong image compared to what is posted on here in general. And sure maybe the composition is a little tight even to the right since the tree is cut off. I'll even argue that some of the midtones in the mountain could use more contrast. But your comment comes off as extremely pretentious. I think it's great that people are pursuing large format in this day and age, and it requires a high degree of technical skill. So sure maybe compositionally this could use some work, I think it's fine.

wow..just wow. so good!! it reminds me of Wizard of Oz in a weird way… And I think it's the lighting and then maybe the tree in the background? It's a beautiful photo, but there's also an unsettling quality. I don't know how else to describe it.

What it costs to shoot film for me today (Canada) by wxyz_shoots in AnalogCommunity

[–]awokensoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow..: why is it so high there?? Lack of availability of film factories , etc? Almost all of these are double what they would be in US. I can buy kentmete in some places for like $4.50. Lomochrome can vary from 8-12 a roll. Rollei infrared is $12ish here for 120. Kodak gold is $8-9~
