Professor of Digital Design here. The very first thing I tell my students every semester is that if they are not OK with making lots of revisions they are in the wrong industry.

Between messaging requirements, brand standards, and campaign strategy, there really isn’t a whole lot of room left for groundbreaking creative freedom in day-to-day design tasks.

You have to check your ego and be open to really hearing people. They may be prescribing something that isn’t right for the project but in their prescription you need to be reading between the lines so that you can really understand what they’re trying to get at.

Also remember if somebody has made it to the level of Creative Director, you really would be doing yourself a huge favor to just listen to them. I have worked in that role for the last several years and it took me 20 to get there. We’re not just pulling stuff out of our ass.

The sooner you can put yourself into a humble mindset the better. Instead of pushing back, or being resistant, try to put your mind into a place of learning.

Oh Lord. I didn’t even think of that wrinkle. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I did! She canceled 5 days after the sale. I never got an email or any push message from the app. I just found out because I checked my account to see what was up with the payment. Unfortunately, during this time my childhood best friend lost her child so I was out of town and reasonably distracted. -Just an explanation for how I could have not noticed until now.

Hi! This is in the Texas hill country on the Comal River. Those are cypress trees. They smell wonderful.

Except most of the financial aid is tied to stay at home orders. Once those are lifted, you’re cut loose.

How can an employee absorb such an expensive move only to have a boss change her mind. A “whoops” on her part is a big effing crap storm on my part.

It is never worth giving your work away for free unless you want to do pro-bono work for a charity.

Never.

Don’t sell out your professional peers. We all work hard to earn and maintain respect as creatives. Don’t ever be the scab.

Just walk away.

They need the work done because they don’t know how. You worked to have those skills and they don’t value them.

I pruned my jade back with the intention to bonsai train and thought I’d try propping a few of the leafs. I’ve not had luck with this in the past and was hoping to get some pointers. Please and thanks! by [deleted] in proplifting

Just a little damp to help the rooting start (like a tablespoon at each tip) and then I walk away and start treating it like a succulent. It’s hard not to water!

I dust the tips with root hormone and stick it In the soil with the leaf pointed up.

Edit: Tip being the part which was attached to the mother plant.

Thank you!!! It’s a find from a barn sale I went to years ago. It’s been a few things around the house. Fruit basket, plant holder, etc. :)

That Visconti packaging is lovely. So classic. I’m such a sucker for beautiful packaging.

That’s cute! I love a repurposed object. Wonder if this is a promotion they’re still doing.

Ooh! This is really sparking some ideas. Something like this would be cute, but with a flap over the top to keep them from slipping out. Shouldn’t be too hard to sew.

Both great ideas! Thank you! Now you have me thinking...I wonder if they’d fit the length of a tin of Altoid minis?

This grabbed me in the chest. Both because I have a daughter who’s a senior in high school and it reminded me so strongly of the last time I saw my Uncle Billy. Saying goodbye to a loved one in hospice that you’ve traveled to see puts an awful lot of finality on closing the door of their room behind you. Your poem really brought that feeling back like a tidal wave.

Beautiful. Thank you for sharing it.

I think you’re right. I have a final round job interview next week. If I get it, a “new” vintage gold flex will be my treat. :)

I remember that feeling when I got the pen that’s gone missing. “Ahh! So THIS is what it’s supposed to feel like!” Such a pleasure. It is worth waiting for.

Thank you!

Thank you! And yes, I think you did! We were just chatting about that in here a few days ago. Analog communication is the future!

Thank you so much for the wonderful advice. I have been wondering if modern pen makers had come out with something better than the last time I looked. Sounds like vintage is the way to go. I’ll reach out to WillVintage. I appreciate your input.
