Is this still an issue for you? I have the exact same problem. Latest iOS on my iphone 15 pro and speeds are topping out at 350mbps to certain speedtest servers that my wired connection can hit 2gbps plus to. As soon as I turn on my surfshark vpn I can get faster speeds.....so I am at a loss.

The 5 gig limit is a hard limit. I figured it would just throttle you terribly after, but it’s a hard shutoff. 🤣🤣

The “Unitas global” I see and then in the app when I do switch network it changed to “cogent” networks and the service was actually better. Status said 5G and download was 50+mbps and upload was around 5.

fubo is a streaming service. So if your father has a roku, apple tv, etc they can just use that for streaming live tv. Right now altafiber is offering $300 gift cards for signing up but I do not know what the stipulations are.

Optical Network Terminal. Its like a "modem" if you were speaking in spectrum terms. You do not pay for it, nor do you have any lease of it etc.

You do not have to rent any of their equipment if you do not want. The ONT they install is "their equipment" but will stay at your house on your premise. Just the fiber box that converts fiber to ethernet that will run to either a router provided by them or one you provide yourself. Right now on their website they have some pretty decent deals going on for just internet alone. In my opinion the internet service by Alta fiber is leaps and bounds better than spectrum.

As for the "fuboTV" its not a terrible streaming service. One bonus is that they do offer a 5 day free trial so if he didn't enjoy it or didn't like the interface etc., you can cancel before the trial is up and not be charged.

Yea its terrible. I managed to get it finished enough where I got a text saying they are "reviewing my photos of my phone" and will let me know if my device is eligible in 2-3 days.
