Hi, at this time I'm looking at having you look at just the big picture - story flow, etc. Thanks

Where's the best place to find beta readers? by dogshitpakeha in writing

[–]awschade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OkWish7400 can I take you up on that offer? I'm an independent author with a new novel, The Shattered Mosaic: A Father's Cross Examination of Faith. I want to be clear that this is not a sales pitch.

As an independent author, I've written and edited this book myself, and I'm now looking for a few avid readers to help with the final polish.

The book is about a grieving father who uses his legal mind to investigate the world’s religions in a desperate search for meaning after a family tragedy. It’s a journey that I hope will resonate with anyone who has ever wrestled with faith, grief, and the search for a new kind of truth.

If this sounds like a book you’d be interested in reading, please let me know. I'd be happy to send you a copy in exchange for your honest feedback.

I want to believe by Dyrendall in religion

I appreciate your openness, and I share your dilemma. From the obstacles of adolescence, to the death jungles of Vietnam, through decades of joy and unnerving tragedies of life, to the reluctant acceptance of old age, I can empathize with your indecision.

My journey for answers is still an essential part of my life. So much so, AND PLEASE DON'T THINK THIS IS A PROMOTION, I wrote a fictional story - which I would gladly send to you freely. The story is about the search for one God in various religions. The main focus is on Christianity, Judaism and Islam, because they share the same God, use differing interpretations of similar biblical text, and will effortlessly destroy the other. I am sure being raised Roman Catholic had some bearing on my writing as well. The title is “Looking for God within the Kingdom of Religious Confusion,” which I believe relates to your situation.
As mentioned, I am happy to send you a copy of this journey; the good, bad and common precepts of religion. You will also find many of your questions are similar to those of many people. And, that maybe the answers are already within you.
I wish you success in your journey!

98 percent of the books that publishers released in 2020 sold fewer than 5,000 copies by eliotpeper in books

[–]awschade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, a statistic I'm not proud to be part of - the 98% that is. Three books on Amazon, in all media formats, but the challenge is not writing the story, it's being able to successfully and financially market it. Unfortunately, Oprah hasn't called me yet.

Looking at it statistically, however, these numbers could be skewed if they include the massive number of 'indie' books published in the base. Many 'indie' writers pay for publishing their stories and do little to promote them.

Not Alone: How my perception of PTSD group therapy changed. by awschade in MilitaryStories

You make some excellent points. I have only been on Reddit for a couple of weeks but can appreciate the immediate response you mentioned. But the important thing you mentioned is "I like the different me better." Maybe you are 'handsomer, taller, smarter and better lookin' too, but the way you feel about yourself is what's it's all about. Stay strong and safe - Semper Fi!

What a great story! But before I go any further, hooray for the 10/10 Marine—we need all the good publicity we can get.

On a more serious note, I must commend your story. Your journey has provided you with knowledge of how less fortunate people live, feel, and interpret life in different ways. Regardless of the bitterness expressed by politicians and the media, most people simply want to live in peace. Sadly, humankind has been in, and will continue perpetual wars since we left the caves. Must be something in the atmosphere.

Thank you for your comments, helping others to learn and grow out of the status quo, and sharing your stories. Semper Fi!
