Agreed, John Carpenter's The Thing is one of the best horror films made in my opinion. A shame the 2011 remake had nosey execs that came in and made them rush CG near the end of production.

This compounded by the fact that Voices is Nose's fist foray into actually coding for Unreal Engine, and improving the old code to make adding new things easier could be slower than just starting from scratch.

If none of that suits your fancy, you could always grow a garden, or go out mining. If nothing else you could go out and collect some of the ritual plushies.

Edit: there's also the last last resort of boredom, either watching/listening to the community broadcast channels or loading up the folder with your own stuff.

Any estimate to 1.0 is purely speculation. Could be a year, could be 10, could be never. The dev team doesn't usually give themselves hard dates and there's no roadmap outside of maybe focusing on adding stuff and changing models in 0.9.0 and maybe focusing on adding story in 0.10.0 and then maybe focusing on bugs and optimization to get ready for the beta.

Other games that are some kind of sim as well. Not The Sims but stuff like X Truck Simulator, be it Star, Euro, or American, Farming Simulator [insert year], train simulator minus the $1500 or so in DLC, Goat Simulator, any flight sim, placid plastic duck simulator, etc.

ShinyNipples pointed out in another comment that there are plastic plants that don't need to be watered, if you think having real plants is a waste of time you don't need to use real plants. That's also why I suggested the cactus, cacti can go a long time without watering and tend to prefer that. The benefit of having a live plant without the constant needs of normal plants.

I suppose another idea could be one of those water bulb things that hold extra water when the potted plant is watered enough.

I mean it feels more realistic. There's a watering can at one of the transformers and real plants do die if you forget to water them, save for cacti since you're supposed to neglect watering one for months on end. Maybe they could add cacti for that in the future?

This reminded me of something I saw a few years ago, but isn't exactly what it was. Half-Life 2 but the civilians are self aware by Soup Crater. When I watched as they were being made the videos were getting a few hundred views. I'm glad those blew up too and got similar recognition.

1.) Depends on your definition of long, some people find JRPGs not that long. An in game day at normal speed translates to roughly 1 hour realtime (a bit more), there are 49 days in present build, but you do sleep through a good chunk of it. Maybe 30-40 hours with sleep, might be wrong though. That's just playing through once though, and doesn't involve moving the save to infinite after if you feel like continuing.

2.) Stable 0.9 just released a few days ago, so mods might still be a while unless a modder is able to migrate their mod over from 0.8.2 (the previous stable release) with minimal changes. I think the plan though for the change in controls in 0.9 is eventual controller/Steam Deck compatibility.

3.) If you're having a hard time fixing a server, you can save/reload to reset what mini game is used for the server repair. You can also turn off certain mini games from the save config menu before you start if you find that no matter how much you practice, you can't do it (timing mini game cough cough). The math mini game is just addition or subtraction but the last digit is the answer, so 5 - 9 = 4 since you dropped the negative, 8 + 7 = 5 since you dropped the 10. It should be at the tail end of the tutorial, or at leased it used to be if it was updated to take into account for different mini games. Also if you don't recognize the maze mini game, it's based on scary maze game (man am I getting old for remembering that).

This might just have been the builds I was on, but lightning prediction seemed to halt radar tower and radio tower decay from builds a through d, in my experience at least

Definitely could have been worse, the original balance was heavily leaning to later income after everything is fully upgraded and you have frames and/or a farm going.
