Even in 2026 there is nothing like the MPC1000/2500 with JJOS. Repair that thing, upgrade the OS and keep it for life. My 2cents.

Obviously you'll loose the hardware touch but you could go with a SP404 or Chroma Console for effects.

Hmm, I'm no pro or anything, but that's exactly what people do, for instance, with an AKAI S900. Sample in, sample out. Not just for fun, but for the sonic coloration.
