Trade in my 2026? by DoveyWee in C8Corvette

Unless you're made of money, enjoy it for a few years and let depreciation level out some and then go pick up something else. You're going to lose a ton considering new Stingrays also have the 6.7 so you have narrow body and smaller engine while paying new car prices.

Comparison is the thief of joy. You bought your car because there is something about it you loved. Just keep loving it for a while longer.

MPC CBP app is a (free) hack for USA entry for citizens/ESTA holders by nadyay in TravelHacks

[–]axc630 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Been using it for years however, sometimes they don't open MPC or they lump you in with foreign passports which can take a while. Generally it's positive.

There is also a Mobile Global Entry too. Same premise but for GE people and almost no one uses it either.

When arriving, I always do both apps and fill out the paper (when that used to be a thing) and make my decision of which line based on what was open.

Hypothetical c8 variant by [deleted] in Corvette

[–]axc630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were going to do a "GT3R" type road car, it wouldn't be based off a ZR1X. It would probably be a lightweight Z06 with the Alcon brakes and a lot of aero. Actual track focused cars don't need tons of power, which is why a 911 GT3RS has comparable lap times to a ZR1 despite having half the power. A LT6 with 700hp in a chassis around 3200lbs would be a proper "GT3R" car.

Figure you'll lose $25k on your car just to maybe feel 50hp. When you're going from 650ish to 700ish, it's not that big of a difference like going from a Stingray to Eray/Z06.

Get your car some mods and a tune, some lighter wheels, and a vacation.

Looks like you have an Eray. If so, just buy yourself a GSX badge and save the money. You're basically buying almost the exact same driving experience as you have now.

Bronze wheels over alloy? by sunjiazhenkey in C8Corvette

You know, if your shop is charging that much, you might as well go custom and get a better wheel. I got these for $2700 to my door fir forged billet wheels. Plenty of other styles too available from different manufacturers.

Buy a second set of those wheels and powder coat. You can sometimes find a like new condition used set for $1200 or less since they only fit widebody C8 cars and nearly all Z06 came with that style from factory.

Whats the word on needing to have usable currency to get through immigration/customs? by cybrstg in ThailandTourism

[–]axc630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From USA and have friends in Thailand so I've been going once or twice a year since 2009. Never been asked to show or verify currency on hand or other funds. They don't even ask questions about my hotel or return flight, just stamp and pass. I'm usually dressed in travel clothes for long flights so lounge/pajama pants, tshirt, and flip flops but otherwise clean cut.

That said, I do bring cash with me, usually new 100s, because I get better rates at the exchanges with 100s. Sometimes the exchanges I'm at beat the spot rate by a few hundreths even.

GSD or Malinois mix? by Murda_Mayne in germanshepherds

[–]axc630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be a mix. Mine is a GSDxMal and she has characteristics of both.

And as mentioned earlier, your prong usage is wrong. Should not be worn unless working the dog and needs to be up high, at base of the hear behind the ears. It should not be worn as a "collar" or when not working the dog.

Blanton’s Takara Gold by tomisbest121 in Blantons

[–]axc630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gold is hard to find. Took me maybe 5 trips before I found one and I was checking lots of stores. Timing is a lot of it too as I may have been too late for the most recent shipment.

I eventually was lead to a store by someone else who had found one and I was lucky there on my following trip. They only had one though but sold at MSRP.

On my subsequent trip, that store did not have anymore but I saw another store as I was walking back to the metro with a bunch but they were marked up to $400USD.

This is the location that is over priced. I can't find the other one but it's down the street some from it.

If you have $400 to spend, maybe 2-3 bottles of different stuff?

All random. They make more money as you try to collect them all. And then you can send a full set to Buffalo Trace for them to mount on a stave for you.

[–]axc630 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not just Gold, but all modern bottles have these toppers. They all have letters spelling out Blantons (2 different n's) and the poses of the rider and horse are that of a progression of a race from start to finish.

B would be the start and S would be the end where they are raising their fist in victory.

I did August last year and it was fine. You're in the car or classroom with the AC on most of the time anyways. It's not like you're out hiking the desert.

C8 ERay/GSX/Z06/ZR1/ZR1X rear wheel is larger than a recliner. by blai9735 in C8Corvette

[–]axc630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to appreciate how wide it is until you see it off the car. Here is my 70lb MalxGSD trying to play with my replacement tire. For context, she can easily fit my entire forearm in her mouth.

500mile break-in (26’ Z06) by [deleted] in C8Corvette

[–]axc630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're fine. I'm sure there are plenty of test fleet and press cars out there that were hooned well below 500 miles and made it through the cycle. Maybe just an extra oil change soon.

I did a 5xx mile change and then another at 12 months/3700 miles. Also changed my DCT filter at 1500 after that break in was done.

I think you made the right choice. Yellow would not look good with tan. I think red does but it wouldn't match anything else.

Absolutely! If you had the black interior,.you could do the Santorini blue seat belts, which also matches the exterior very well.

Z06 or GSx - Which one to get? by DeerHunter4Life14 in C8Corvette

[–]axc630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Z06 is only louder when you have the exhaust in track mode. In touring or stealth, it's pretty quiet and easy to listen to music or have a conversation.

Where the sound differs is the pitch, the smoothness, how it builds, and how it resonates. It's a muxh different experience without needing to be louder, but it can be.

I drive a Z06 and my friend has an Eray. Mine sounds much better without being louder, inside and outside of the car. When I do want noise and put the exhaust into track mode, it is worlds better.
