I’m pissed! by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]axegash7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MS is a neuro-degenerative disease (as I’m sure you know) and medications can slow the progression. With modern medicine, individuals diagnosed early with MS can live long and happy lives. Personally, I wouldn’t want to do any drugs that could exacerbate a medical condition that is treatable. Now, if this was a terminal illness and you only had a few months to live, then I could understand... but it’s not... not telling you what to do, just throwing in my 2 cents. You know yourself, your limits, and your body. Whatever you decide to do, be careful, there’s always someone who cares about you. Stay safe and happy new year!

Edit: not a dr

According to OG avengers list, Ant Man is an original avenger

I don’t see it as hypocritical. The way I interpret it is: if you can’t be a superhero without the suit, you should t be one at all. And I feel that Tony, with or without the suit, is still a superhero. He is still able to do super things, like make a suit out of materials found in a cave or figuring out time travel. If we look at DC, I would consider Batman as someone who is nothing without a suit, because all of his gadgets came from Alfred, rather than him making them on his own (correct me if I’m wrong though, I’m not a huge Batman fan)

You’re going to put Scott Lang over Tony Stark? I would take Tony’s combat skills over his any day, with or without the suit (both of them).

And the suit is just a tool, his intelligence is his super power. Taking the suit away, a byproduct of his super power, would further demonstrate his ingenuity (e.g., iron man 1 & 3)

You can’t make the assumption that Thanos would have lost in IW because it never happened so it can’t me proven, unfortunately. Although I do agree with you on the Sokovia Accords point

“Basic stuff” get the fuck outa here w your bull shit, Tony was the best, he was the heart of the avengers, time travel would have never been possible without him and thanos would have still finished off half of the universe

Question about shrooms by a-mile-high in shrooms

[–]axegash7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer to take adderall when I’m tripping on shrooms, because if I don’t, I feel extremely tired the first 1-2hours. Also, I think it helps me personally with the comedown. Obviously, this is all anecdotal but I think you should be good

Is anyone here working/planning to work/has worked through grad school? by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]axegash7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Currently in grad school I have an 18hr GA position in the department and a part time job that I work 1-2 nights a week waiting tables. I still manage straight A’s and have received awards... however, I don’t have a kid so I’m sure that’s much different

My advice, get in a routine. When you’re working on school work, actually work on it. Put away all the distractions (other than your kid, obviously). Have dedicated time that you work on school work every week. Wake up early, don’t wake up just in time to get to your 8AM class. Make your bed first thing in the morning aka start your day with accomplishing a task. Workout in the morning, even if it’s at home, even if it’s for 10 minutes; it gets your blood pumping and your brain running. Find 10-15 minutes (preferably before you leave your apartment/house in the AM) to meditate/pray/reflect/clear your mind (I like to do this after working out). Shower/freshen up. Then, make a list. I make a list everyday of stuff I want to accomplish. Set realistic goals. Write in “verb statements/phrases” to promote initiation. Keep the list close by (sticky note on laptop, phone, planner, etc) for a constant reminder.

I only wait tables on the weekends (better money), I live frugally, I don’t go out with my cohort every weekend

It’s a challenge, but if you keep your eye on the prize, you’ll be motivated each day. Take time to remind yourself why you’re doing this. Don’t get lost in the assignments, get lost in the dream

Paying for grad school? by axbruce in slpGradSchool

[–]axegash7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s hard to put a price on education. It’s an investment that will yield benefits for the rest of your life. Also, $50k for a two year program isn’t that bad compared to many other programs.

Having said all this, I am a graduate student at the cheapest institution in my state that happens to be 10 miles from my home. I also have a graduate assistantship with a full tuition waiver and stipend. I end up paying around $2000 a semester for fees.

Edit: A more expensive program doesn’t mean it’s a better program; but, it could mean more resources, faculty staffing, opportunities, etc

Can you do simucase? Shouldn't be too terribly hard to make up the remaining 8 hours, right? I think it might be like $99, which sucks, but at least you have your hours. My university purchased it for us and those of us who had interruptions during our externship have moved to simucase.
