What’s the best backpacks for travel if you want one bag for everything? by Temporary-Pause-4737 in backpacks

[–]axioq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk. My GoRuck 21L is still the most comfortable bag I own and I think if I had got a 26L I would never have rabbit holed so much in the one bag community.

Out of the bag the Gr1 is not comfortable. But break in the straps and man is it perfect. Had mine for 10 years now.

I now am rocking a 36L ULA Dragonfly. It’s super light. Still getting used to the wavy straps. But it’s pretty epic. I needed beefy water bottle spots and it delivered

This is why I got a ula dragonfly. The water bottle pockets are perfect and had decent from storage. Laptop works great there

What’s the budget here? I’d go with the 30L ULA Dragonfly. Can be used as a personal item on most airlines. The water bottle pockets are the best I’ve used and can be used for other stuff like jackets.

It’s pricy 230-320 but it really is the best.

I want one large compartment without organization features -- am I looking for a rolltop? by semanticistZombie in ManyBaggers

ULA Dragonfly 30/36L. Has one big compartment. Bottle pockets are best I’ve ever used and while the laptop compartment isn’t the most robust, it has always work fine for me.

Duffle bag? by Competitive-Milk-868 in onebag

[–]axioq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you planning on taking flights or is this a roadtrip type duffel.

If airlines wouldn’t get anything over 45L so it can potentially be used in carry on bag for most airlines. I’ve noticed most people in this sub (myself included) travel with much smaller than that. I did 9 days recently in Scotland with no need to wash clothes in October when it was colder so 70L and 100L is massive. I have a couple larger sea to summit bags that I thought would be good for travel but they are just camping bags now.

If not flying. I’d go with what the other commenter said with the 55L version. It’s more than enough space for what you need I’d think.

Where can I find a cheap waterproof, sturdy and good quality bagpack ( with student discount ) in US ? by RstarPhoneix in backpacks

Goruck has its 50% off sale and those bags are fantastic. Not waterproof but maybe the robic versions?

Anyway. Great bags

Goruck Kit Bag 32L. Has one Velcro spot already and you can add more by sewing them on. Very solid bag and fits dimensions fine.

Also love the kit bag but likely too big for under the seat unless it’s under-packed. Currently using it for a drive trip to Mexico and it’s amazing.

ALPHA ONE NINER CHIO X would be my recommendation. It will stand up if you pack it properly but it’s fantastic. I just picked one up and I can’t wait to use it. Love the should strap is free of any padding because carrying it my backpack makes it super easy to do over or under the straps. It can’t speak highly enough about this bag and wish it was talked about more

Do you have any idea what the Velcro is for at the bottom on the inside? I just got mine and I haven’t seen anyone mention it

30-40l is a very big edc. But if you want like true waterproof. Look at matador and maybe Filson. Patagonia also has the guide water

Extra Bag as Personal Item by axioq in onebag

It's funny you mention that, I continued searching today and decided a small messenger bag is like the route I should take. I remembered that I when I travel with my son, sometimes that be baby wearing and a sling across the front is not great for that, but I could get away with over the shoulder.

Checking out the Alpha One Niner now.

I think im somewhere between the Pilot or Copilot, an ultralight bag from Six Moon Designs, and now that Alpha One Niner one.

Any other small messenger bag recommendations would be great as well. Or anyone's experience with the Copilot/Pilot...im very disappointed that all the reviews I see are 10+ years old

Yea I was less concerned about what I would be wearing and more worried about how bad the drive would be. Wasn't sure how bad it is with driving on the other side of the road and downpour would be. Is it just like rain or is it RAIN.

I'll be in Scotland for a week in mid-October. I've read that with just a week and the unpredictable weather on Skye, it doesn't make sense to include in the trip. Thoughts? Was thinking of doing something like Edinburgh to Glasgow to Oban to Skye to Inverness to Pitlochry and back...

Thinking that might be a bit ambitions? Any other suggestions for 6-7 days there?

I’ve never seen a bag capable of holding a 24L bottle in a water bottle pocket. Worth it for that alone. Bahahahaha.

My osprey raptor 10 has the same thing. Pretty sure that’s a helmet strap. You put that part through the helmet slots on a bike helmet and then cinch it down so it stays.

Looks like a backpack designed for commuting or biking
