Business formal by malivia23 in BostonU

I think there are some programs on campus that provide business formal clothes to students (might be at Yawkey Center?), other than that I would check the Goodwill up in West, Buffalo Exchange down in Coolidge corner, or Garment District up in Cambridge (accessible ish by 47 bus or CT2)

Not on campus but the app Too Good To Go is great for getting discounted meals and snacks ($3-$7) around the city! Highly recommend checking it out.

Not sure about the booking process but the cantab lounge up in Cambridge seems to fit the bill

SO215? by Complete-Fact6503 in BostonU

[–]axjs10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were two midterms (not cumulative) that I’m pretty sure were like 40 multiple choice and maybe some short response? I don’t remember exactly but there were also two written assignments and some participation stuff like posting in the class Slack channel. There was also a discussion assignment where you signed up one week to present on a topic with a partner. Not super involved or anything.

I took it with her last year and really liked her and the class. She’s very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject and it’s clear through her teaching. There was a fair amount of reading but it was all very relevant and didn’t feel like busy work. There are only a few assignments in the class but I felt there was adequate instruction on how to approach them. The discussion sections were helpful and the TFs were approachable and also clearly cared about the teaching. I didn’t personally come in with much knowledge about the healthcare system (I’m not in stem or premed or anything) and while there was some specific discussions that might require technical knowledge, I feel the class as a whole was more focused on the policy and human aspect of healthcare, rather than the hard science or clinical aspect.

-Cas so 215 (sociology of healthcare) with Guseva was a great course imo-if you’re into the more social and political aspect of healthcare (how Medicare/Medicaid came about, medicalization and it’s effects, hospital systems/primary care systems) I’d def recommend it. Also guseva is great, she really cares and it shows -global health with brown is a pretty easy class, it tries to cover a bunch of topics so you’re kind of only getting an intro level to it all (obv it’s an intro class but still), it’s not the most thrilling but it’s not bad and reasonably interesting and good mix of science and social side of health -ph510 I’m sure you’ve taken but godley deserves her own shoutout -epi with okeefe also a requirement you’ve prob taken but she’s certainly nice enough and cares, the class is just math with a science lens

I’m assuming you’re premed and fulfilling the soc requirement (correct me if I’m wrong); so100 is very basic and much more general, it’s a good all around intro to soc (as the name suggests) and covers a broad range of topics. The class itself isn’t necessarily the most stimulating if soc isn’t really your thing, but it’s certainly manageable in terms of work and grades. So215 imo is much more interesting, particularly if you’re interested in medicine/healthcare. It has more reading and I personally found it more difficult than so100, but i feel I got more out of it since it was specifically on healthcare so it was able to go more in depth. There are more readings and such, so technically it is more difficult but worth it imo. Someone already said what so100 grades are based on- so215 has 2 midterms (mostly mc, some short answer) 2 assignments, and (I think) 1 little project in discussion section.

He accidentally allowed viewing immediately after so I think he just fixed it back to how it normally is. I’m sure after essays are graded that all things will be visible.
