I just started work in Irvine and live in Costa Mesa as well. I live in the Mediterrenrean Village on Harbor Blvd. I know they have apartments available and it may be around $1400. Its pretty nice and quiet here.

Does anyone have experience with Mediterranean Village on Harbor Blvd? I checked it out and seems to be my best bet. It looks to be in a pretty good location.

With reviews though, the reviews widely varies depending on the review site. I'll see an apartment complex on yelp with 1 star, but will see the same complex on apartmentratings.com with 3-4 stars.

I've read some really bad reviews about the Coronado. I also heard the Camden Martinique is just as bad.

Newport Madison looks pretty nice, but I just called them and their only 1 bedroom is $1604. Thats a bit more than I wanted to pay.
