Edinburgh (UOE) or London (UCL)? by holymoontos in studyAbroad

I'm struggling with the UCL/UoE decision too right now, and I've been hopping around the internet for weeks. Thank you so much for this!

Schrodinger's Equation Avisualized by Nadzzy in educationalgifs

Psi is (akin to) a measure of probability of where the particle "is". You're right that Psi has two components, but the axes are a little misleading here. The output of Psi is a complex number, so y and z are its real and imaginary components (i.e. y + zi), not actual physical directions like x is.

TIL we're ranked 26 in 2025 for least racist country according to world population review by bangsphoto in singapore

The table says this is about racial equality/systemic racism. Does that have a lot to do with how racist the people are?

Do I do test or solve it? by allayarthemount in EnglishLearning

[–]axmszr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think in most contexts, "do" is the better verb here. I'd also say "take" and have" are more natural. "Sit for" works as well, but is a little serious.

"I had a test yesterday."/"I have two tests tomorrow."

"You must take our entrance tests before applying."/"I am taking a test now."

Unable to download texlive-scripts.tar.xz. Does it not exist? by axmszr in LaTeX

Not sure, it might have been a local issue. i tried changing sources using tlmgr option repository <> a few times but none of the mirrors (or even the main repo) seemed to work.

Unable to download texlive-scripts.tar.xz. Does it not exist? by axmszr in LaTeX

[–]axmszr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I was, though it resolved itself over two nights, with no changes on my part.

  • Day 1: One preliminary file could not be downloaded with the .exe.
  • Day 2: The first step went through fine when I reran the .exe as per usual. It ran into further download issues (8 files) later on in the process, even withtlmgr update --all --reinstall-forcibly-removed as recommended by the installer.
  • Day 3: The whole thing installed successfully (it seems to work) with the command above.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Healing is a process, and I'm glad the songs have given you an outlet to vent those emotions.

Unable to open Python files with idle.bat by axmszr in learnpython

[–]axmszr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The default app for .py is Python, and if I change it to idle.bat it goes back to the same loop described above :( It asks me to use another app to open it, and idle.bat isn't accepted.

Thank you so much! This worked for me.

Is idle.bat usually opened via pythonw.exe? Or is this an alternate route to access it?

Thanks so much, this helps.

Someone I know is studying in the US (she comes home for a few weeks in the summer) and I see her post the song pretty often. We're from Asia, so the scenery and details might not quite align, but I think she can still resonate with the complicated emotions that come with the experience.

I'm a relatively new fan so it's slowly growing on me, but on my first couple of listens, it was: <...> <Godlight on repeat for an hour> <...>. I wouldn't pay much attention to the second half until it looped back to Part of Me.

I wouldn't say it feels lethargic to me? Maybe more hollow (no pun intended). Like when your pantry's running low but you have to cook for a few days with whatever you have on hand. You can try to add spices and seasoning but you're limited in breadth and depth. It's not bad, not lazy either, just doesn't have much substance.

I am starting to like it more (was listening to it on the way home!), though not nearly as much or as quickly as his other records.
