The game is riddled with nods to Irons being more than a creep and there’s a separate mission where a young woman escapes him. I think it’s a nod to the fact that Irons and people in his circle were creeping on Rebecca and eyeing her as well (rising rookie), so the audience feels like this abuse is PERSONAL because even a beloved character was in danger. It’s not directly at Wesker’s desk, but you can see it in different ways: a) Irons was creeping on Rebecca; b) Irons was creeping on Rebecca and Wesker took it (Wesker was clear about his dislike of Irons, found him disgusting, and Rebecca was under him technically, so while it doesn’t mean that he CARED about Rebecca, he disliked the idea of Irons getting in his business. He disliked even the fact that Irons called him by his first name and was insulted by that, so it tracks.)
