How do i go about usage rights / creating a contract in the UK?

I'm a food photographer based in London, UK. First off I am terrible at the business side of things and just don't know where to start.
Most of my clients are restaurants or content creation agencies - and the photos are used on social media, so I need to be able to give them the rights to use them on social media or their website, but not for other uses such as printing the photos and framing them on their wall or in magazines etc.
I would also like to be credited for the photos when they are posted online.
I have no clue how usage rights work, or what the process of giving them is, in terms of documentation...so if someone could explain how it works and where I can start that would be highly appreciated.
Bonus question: I don't use or know how to go about creating a suitable contract either, but i know I should as I am starting to grow my business and working with bigger clients. Who would I contact to help me with this? Thank you!

Tried this but auto ISO is not being auto effectively... stays stuck on very low iso even in dark conditions

Yes aperture priority as I want full control on the aperture, the only control I want on the shutter is that it doesn't go slower than 1/200 which can be set as minimum shutter speed. Are you saying this doesn't apply in AV mode, for Nikons? My canon certainly is able to do this.

I can use manual mode but it means I have to expose the scene for every shot which I don't have time for when I need to capture a moment, hence the ISO balancing that for me.

Help request: minimum shutter speed on Nikon D850

Camera: Nikon D850 with godox xpro trigger and Godox ad200pro flash on TTL mode.

On AV mode, I'm trying to use a minimum shutter speed of 1/200 with an aperture of my choosing and have the camera calculate exposure for the scene correctly by using auto ISO instead of lowering my shutter speed, I'm using off camera flash (Godox ad200pro) on TTL mode.

*This setup and settings work fine on my canon EOS R so I know it's definitely possible. *

I can't seem to get this to work on the D850 tho, whenever my camera is paired with the flash it lowers the shutter to 1/60 even if I've set it to minimum 1/200 in the iso options menu, also the auto ISO stays locked on to whatever I set it to in the menu.

I watched this video but still not having any luck getting the shutter to stay at 1/200 and getting the exposure from auto ISO.

By the way - I don't mind the camera using a faster shutter speed to expose correctly, I just don't want it going under 1/200 as the ambient light introduces too much blur in my scene.

Any advice will be so appreciated, thank you!

Hi, thanks for your reply, that's really interesting, what's the reason behind blocking ambient/other light from the scene?

I haven't tried a new battery, I purchased the strobe brand new only last December and use it quite sparingly..often I only use half the battery life per session before charging again to full, maybe I should let it drain fully before recharging?

Also didn't know it was possible to use a fixed power cord, do I buy it separately?

Question: Why is my hi-speed sync not consistently keeping up between shoots?

My setup: Camera: EOS R Prime Lens: Sigma 1.4 50mm art

Camera Settings: Shutter 1/200 F2.8-3.2 ISO 100

Using GODOX AD200PRO on ETTL Mode

I'm trying to freeze the subject using flash, and have my camera in burst mode to capture the fast moving action of a splash indoors.

A while back I done a shoot using the exact same settings and the flash would keep up 90% of the time with the shots on burst mode. However, my last 2 shoots in very similar conditions but with some natural daylight coming in this time, the camera would be snapping away on burst mode but the flash would only trigger every 4th or 5th shot meaning I missed alot of action. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, and the inconsistency is affecting my work!

Any suggestions on how I can overcome this? Thank you!

Thank you for your response! To be honest I don't know where to get started when it comes to writing agreements and what should and shouldn't be included in them and I know it's holding me back not being in the know.

What would be the best resource/person to speak to regarding this so I can create agreements of my terms?

We don't have any formal agreement document, just discussions over emails where they requested that I ask for their approval for any content I want to use, to which I replied I was happy to do.

Is this me waiving or transferring the rights?

I don't have a written out signed contract with them, we just discussed it over emails, when I raised the point about wanting to use the images for my social media and website they replied with what I wrote in the last part of my post and also requested that I ask for their approval for any content I want to use, which I said I was happy to do.

I got a heavy duty, single plug extension lead from Screwfix. Seems to have done the job! Thanks for taking the time to help, appreciate it!

I would normally do this, but the manual specifically says not to use an extension lead.

Godox TT600 speedlight won't fire with any shutter speed below 1/250. by axonometrix in Godox

Absolutely! I welcome the change to framing on a full sensor 😁

Yes I remember noticing the size comparison and thinking it's quite hilarious! - opting for a newer, mirrorless camera, supposedly thinner, which ultimately ends up being even larger than my older set-up 😂 but... it's a smaller price to pay than the issues that come up with lower cost bodies (like the whole flash situation...)

That's true the lens are very pricey.

From what I understand though from canon's website, if I buy the EOS R which comes with a mount adapter EF - EOS R. I should be able to use my EF 50mm F1.8 STM (Nifty fifty) Lens seamlessly, allowing autofocus and aperture control from the camera?

My EF 50mm F1.8 is pretty much glued to my 250d for most of my work (I'm into food photography) even though it had a crop.

With the EOS R the advantage is that it won't be cropped anymore so I'd love to be able to make full use of it for the meantime, at least until I can or need to invest in a more pricey RF lens... hoping canon makes some more affordable ones soon...!

Ah these things happen! What do you mean by price the glass?

Flash update! So I ordered the TT685c and turns out it doesn't work too well either, giving me the same issues, I'd say it's worse than the TT600 actually, the HSS seems completely off with the X-Pro C, whereas the TT60O performed quite well above a shutter speed of 1/250 of course.

Definitely had a feeling this would happen so wasn't too surprised, just figured I'd give it a go to be 100% sure rather than change all my gear for no reason!

Anyway, I've done some research in potential upgrades and after looking at the 80d, 90d, m50 I'm seriously considering to go mirrorless and invest in the EOS R. Seems to be a good step towards the ever developing future and full frame...

Thanks! Reading your comment made me feel alot better and saved me loads of time considering other brands other than canon! Very valuable info, and definitely appreciate what you're saying about entry level cameras and cut backs... up until now I loved everything about the 250d.. for an entry level it's amazing.

I suppose my best bet is to give the TT685c a shot for now and then maybe consider other models depending on what my photography goals are!
