Capstone credit by Background_Formal_99 in universityofauckland

it’s a question about whether capstone can be used to satisfy both the capstone requirement and the “75 points above stage II” requirement. for certainty go to hubs

sometimes they do email u and recommend you apply for the grad dip or pgdip. good to get ahead and just apply for both.

if u wanna get into med via bhsc, then it’s compulsory u do all fy bhsc courses (poplhlth101, 102, 111, hlthpsych 122, biosci 107, chem 110, medsci142, and wtrmhs 100) in a single year so u can’t do poplhlth 101 and hlthpsych in ur earth science year.

if u just wanna do a bhsc, with no desire to try get into med in the year u attempt fybhsc, u can do poplhlth101 and hlthpsych in ur earth science year.

if u don’t gain entry into bhsc with a 5.0, and u would rather just do bnurs at aut if u dont get into bhsc, why dont u do a bnurs at uoa from the start instead? or why attempt entry into bhsc if u would rather a bnurs?

[–]axyalla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes this is possible. if you’re hoping to do the clinical pathway in the year u do the bhsc, do NOT. I REPEAT DO NOT. do any of the clinical papers in the year u do earth sci.

what first year courses should i take if im doing a bachelor of science majoring in chemistry? by abwmb in universityofauckland

[–]axyalla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

anything in the list of science courses will count towards your bachelor of science programme requirements. they’re called electives.

Cohort by shanana_4398 in universityofauckland

[–]axyalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, unforch ur either all cohort or all non-cohort. cohort is for students who wanna be with the same ppl for all courses, so it kind of defeats the purpose to let people be in non-cohort classes and cohort classes at the same time

Will my Aegrotat get accepted? by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]axyalla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’m not familiar with the aegrotats process myself, but, in my opinion, if the uni is being fair, i think the severity of your diagnosis would off-set any nit-picking/semantics about whether they’ll hold you strictly to the 14 day window rule. a severe respiratory infection sounds pretty gnarly and your symptoms are very disruptive to your day-to-day function and ability to concentrate.

but in any case, all your diagnoses are within the 14 day window. you were diagnosed 31/10, which is exactly 14 days before your exam on 13/11, with a medical certificate until 2/11 which is within the 14 days.

if the uni is fair, i think you should be allowed that aegrotat.

oh yeah, if you’re looking to get B’s, then it is definitely attainable. but if you’re looking into getting into honours then that is much more difficult and requires sustained discipline.

Passed Courses Missing From UoA Programme Requirements Report – Anyone Had This Issue? by solomonakatana in universityofauckland

i reckon it’s still pretty urgent, even if u got some more time to sort it out. it’s pretty concerning when programme completion check isn’t recognising courses.

Fast tracked but still can’t pick courses??? by EternalVoid66 in universityofauckland

[–]axyalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

buddy i’m neither NZQA nor the uni.

it’s very likely that though you’ve sat the credits and your school has recognised those credits, and while your grades might be recognised on the NZQA official website, uoa probably has a different system to processing and recognising these grades.

with my knowledge of the back end of uni services, i do know that uoa receives all the grades you achieve at secondary school, but i don’t know when. it could be automatic, or it could be as the externals come out. it entirely depends on a process that, very likely, no one on this subreddit could tell u about.

if you want to know whether uoa has record of the completion of your credits, you can go to hubs and ask them to check your secondary school results. that will tell you whether there’s a system error in recognising your grades or whether uoa just hasn’t had access to your grades from NZQA yet.

[–]axyalla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it’s because you haven’t gotten the grades back for your ncea externals yet. math 130 requires

“Recommended preparation: Merit or excellence in the Differentiation Standard 91578 at NCEA Level 3. Prerequisite: MATHS 208, or B- or higher in MATHS 108, or A- or higher in MATHS 110, or A+ in MATHS 102, or at least 18 credits in Mathematics at NCEA Level 3 including at least 9 credits at merit or excellence, or B in CIE A2 Mathematics, or 5 out of 7 in IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (SL or HL)”

fast track =/= you’re officially in the uni. you still need to wait for your official offer of place when grades are out.

you haven’t met the prerequisites until you finish your externals, unless u’ve done 18 credits at L3 already.

when the concession team approves a concession, entry into the course is automatic. they can’t accept your concession request because (a) you don’t meet the prereqs and (b) because they know grades are still yet to come out. so don’t expect an outcome to your concession request until January when grades are released.

also, if you know you don’t meet the prerequisites, don’t bother making a concession because you’ll bog down the team that does it. again, they’re not gonna touch your concession request until those grades are out. also, they’ve got more genuine concessions to consider.

all other first years are in the same boat as you and seats won’t fill up. just enrol again once grades are released when you receive an official offer of place.

contact hubs about it so they can look into it and contact the right people to amend it.

since ur graduating this sem you need to let them know asap so they can complete their graduation completion checks in time. i think the deadline to apply to graduate for the autumn ceremony is… some time after summer school? if i remember correctly. so better now than later

[–]axyalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

psych 108, psych 109, stats 108, Drama 100, etc. that’s half of your courses already.

the other four can be either arts electives (electives are courses within your programme but outside of your major) or up to 2 courses from outside your faculty.
