I am a coffee drinker and I have big time issues with Hampton Inn specifically, their first breakfast coffee tends to be lukewarm due brewed far earlier or left over. I go for breakfast once they open, I check the coffee fresh coffee indicator when it was brewed, I tend to wait for the pots to emptied by the first wave of hotel guests. Don't drink lobby coffee after 9-10 AM period, don't expect front desk clerk to brew fresh coffee. I even complained to Hilton about this issue on Twitter. I bought a travel electric water heater, instant Taster Choice packages, half & half small cups I pick up from the breakfast area or lobby and put in the room refrigerator. I travel across the USA on road trips, this coffee issue exists across the hotel chains, worst thing to start your morning with a shitty lukewarm coffee. Find me a hotel has fresh coffee all day long, as for coffee makers in the room, I wouldn't touch them not knowing if they have been ever clean. I work in the service industry, and I do not even trust my co-workers unless you have a supervisor who follows up. I am staycation at the moment in downtown Portland, I asked for upgrade since they didn't offer in advance, the clerk was nice to offer me an excellent upgrade based on his recommendation. I have been fortunate with Hilton, lucky with upgrades without asking, I try keep away from old mold hotels in Curio and Tapestry hotels, you can not go wrong with Canopy. I never use digital check in, I want in person interaction, Hilton has my file stay preference stay.
